I don’t know anybody who calls it a ‘stake house’, we only use the term ‘stake center’ here in California. A stake center is larger than the normal church building because it needs to accomodate several wards (congregations) at one time for larger meetings or events.

Our ward buildings are called churches in most normal conversation.

Momathome,
You are exactly right, I have only heard it referred to as a Stake Center and when I go to Church, I say “I am going to Church”.
I have always called it a Church. I have never called it a Meeting house or a Stake house.

We always say Stake Center and Church, too. Sometimes we may even use Chapel, when answering the phone for example “LDS Chapel, Bro. Smith speaking.” The term meeting house is more often found in Church literature, I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen “stake house”. Maybe?
