You are canonically impeded from ordination. However, don’t let that stop you. If you truly have a vocation, then God will make sure you become a priest.
Even if he was impeded, and probably he is not because his heresies, apostasies and so on needed to be public, which is unlikely or we don’t know and we don’t need to know, those impediments can be removed by the Holy See. So, You could be moderate on derailing the thread and making inaccurate judgements which only his priest will be able to make by meeting him personally.

To the OP, Welcome Home and contact your local parish where you will get proper guidance.:blessyou:

Do you have to go to that specific church or can you try another one?

Then you won’t have anxiety about attending your childhood parish.

I NEVER attend my childhood parish, as I never felt comfortable there. Even when I’m visiting my mother.

Fortunately, there are several others nearby, including Byzantine and Latin Mass.

I’m sorry. I didn’t read the canon carefully. It turns out that it needed to be public in order for it to be classified as an irregularity. Thank you for correcting me. :o

Please do not accuse me of purposefully derailing this thread. I have done no such thing. I am simply offering advice to the OP to the best of my ability.

But you are not helping when you start lobbing words like “apostate”, “heretic”, and “schismatic”. In fact, you could be doing more harm than good.
I am working on my Master’s degree in Theology, am probably 3 times your age and have been Catholic all my life, and I would not use such language with someone who is scared and confused.

You are correct that there are certain impediments to ordination, but it is not for you, or anyone other that a Bishop/Superior to decide what those are…

To the OP, see a priest, one at your own Church or elsewhere. Be assured that what ever you say to them will be held in confidence and that they will be truly happy to welcome you home and help your discernment (which is just a fancy word for “decision-making” 😉 )
Peace be with you on your journey

Thanks. Do you know if it is difficult to get accepted to a seminary?

Hello,

I’ll start out by saying I’m 22 years old and I was raised in the RCC my whole life, coming from an irish family and I went to Catholic school my whole life, except college. I have been faithful my whole life but when I went in the military I was put through hell and upon returning I didn’t receive much help from anyone and I went to mass because it seemed like it would be the only thing to help me but I felt nothing (Note: When I was in the military I felt like I had a calling from God to become a priest, and for a very long time that’s what I wanted to be) .

Then I did the whole Mormon thing, coming across their missionaries, attending their church and feeling welcomed with open arms. I am not here to bash the Mormon church in anyway, but I now know what their whole religion is about, its like a business and a cult I want nothing a part of.

I have always been faithful through this whole thing, and just a few days ago I feel as though I had that same calling to become a priest and I know that this is what God wants me to do, also it is time to come back to the real Church of Christ.

The only thing is I am very, very scared to face the priests in the parish because both my parents work there and my family has been going there since the early 1900’s. I really want to go back and pursue becoming a priest, but how do you think the priests will take it? It’s the only thing that holding me back and I do not know what to do. Can I still be baptized? How long do you think it will take for me to be baptized again?
Welcome home. You can go to any Catholic church and speak to a priest about returning to the church. He will give you guidance and direction toward RCIA, which will assist in your return to the church and further your spiritual growth and development. You have probably been baptized, received First Holy Communion and Confirmation if you were raised Catholic. God bless.
