I think we can put this subject to rest altogether. Look at this link on the current LDS web site:

It clearly explains that we will become Gods and have spirit children who have the same relationship to us as we do to our Heavenly Father. It also says this is how our Heavenly Father became a God. Case closed.

I don’t think there is an official answer to your original question. It makes sense that if God went through the same process as us that he either had to be a Jesus equivalent on another planet or else he had to have a Jesus equivalent on another planet to atone for his sins. There is however no official doctrine on this that I know of. All we know for sure is that Jesus was the Savior for his Heavenly Father’s creations. It is also possible that Jesus would be the Savior of any of the posterity of any of those who he originally saved. Introducing previous Gods into the equation really does muddle everything.

From my understanding, Mormon’s deemed (?) that polygamy is now reserved for the afterlife, but it’s still the ideal.

Of course my understanding of Mormonism is extremely limited.

That said, I still like to watch Big Love!

ah that is why the state of NE has issues prostecuting them…that explains it!

absolutely correct. Practicing polygamy today is grounds for immediate excomunication from the LDS church. However…a man can be sealed to as manmy deceased wives as he has outlived and also the current one. Thus a faithful LDS man can only have one lawful living wife at a time but has no limits on how many are validly sealed to him in eternity.

In fact, when I was LDS, the common understanding was that women are more “spiritual” and righteous by nature than men, and therefore far more women than men will make it to the Celestial Kingdom. So there will be plenty of plural wives to go around. They also teach that in the resurrection everyone will be at the height of his/her physical perfection (age 30 for males, age 21 for females). It smacks of Islam with lots of multi-partner sex in heaven. The parallels between Islam and Mormonism are frightening. They had the same source, so it should not be surprising, and yet I am often surprised.

The image came to my mind of a lady in the “celestial kingdom” being shocked to find dear Ephrem at her side once more: “Oh, no! Not HIM again??!!”
