Well, I’m prejudiced in favor of Aquinas, I’ll admit it, so I will not say Jesus is the Father. The Book of Mormon does, though, so it is possible that the Book of Mormon is sacrilegious, at least in the eyes of Aquinas, if not also in the eyes of the Father himself.

Well it certainly is in my eyes anyway lol. But then anything
that suggests Christcan be improved upon is sacreligious
in my eyes. Here Gid humbled Himself to become
the bread for our lives and ding dings are running around
the hills of Znew York looking for more tablets.

Thanks everyone for posts like this one. I’m just thankful that my Catholic friend was bold enough with me to tell me the truth. Once she realized my doubts and questions, she jumped right in. Jesus didn’t lie when he said the gates of hell will not prevail against his church. God is not a liar. The true authority is in the Catholic Church. Who will we trust, Joseph Smith Jr. or Jesus Christ?

There is nothing wrong with doubts and questions regarding your faith, not matter what they tell you in General Conference. There is proof against certain things and please don’t ignore them.

I haven’t been on this site in many moons and I just happen to check in.

What I find very interesting is this:
According to LDS, a great apostasy occurred in the Church that Jesus established (forget for the moment that Jesus said at the great commission that he would be with them till the end of the ages-I guess Jesus lied, tsk, tsk) “After the deaths of the Savior and His Apostles, men corrupted the principles of the gospel and made unauthorized changes in Church organization and priesthood ordinances.”

So my understanding then is that there was no valid priesthood at all just after Jesus died. Why then does the LDS accept a book from a bunch of apostates as being the word of God? Keep in mind that the Bible was compiled by a bunch of “apostate” bishops (and BTW a bishop IS a priest) in the fourth century. If those men had NO authority whatsoever, then why consider the Bible as the word of God? If I really believed those men were apostates I would not accept anything at all from those bishops? The LDS accepts the King James Version and what is that but a bible compiled by a bunch of “apostates” minus several books. But if there was no true church till JS, why use books from “apostates”?

:amen: It was compiled looong after the “Great Apostasy”! And even though Joseph Smith made his own “translations” of the Bible, where are they in the dead sea scrolls?

Why on earth would they take scripture from “the great and abominable church” whose “founder was the devil” (1 Nephi 13:5-6)?

Besides our Lord said, “where two or three are gathered in my name, I am among them.” Now how many “two or three” have been gathered in His name continuously since the last apostle John died. Mormons have to believe the Lord either lied or was kidding us. There’s not one Mormon, including old Joe that knows for sure if there was a “complete apostasy”. They are taking the word of a man that translated the BOM with the same seer stones that he used for his “money-digging activities” and also zoomed teenage girls and lied about it to the day he died. :mad:
 
Hi Folks; I decided to chime in before this thread closes. Here goes: “YOU ARE PETER, AND UPON THIS ROCK I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH, AND THE JAWS OF DEATH(GATES OF HELL) SHALL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST IT”! Well, was Our Lord, Jesus Christ wrong? Did the Holy Spirit abandon His Church? NONSENSE! It would mean satan is smarter, stronger, much more powerful than my Lord, Jesus Christ. WOW! 1,800 YEARS OF APOSTASY! sATAN WINS BIG TIME! Many years ago, my good friend, Larry, joined a fundamentalist mega-church. His mega-church “elders” told him, all non-believers, especially Catholics, are going to hell! He tried for the longest time to bring my wife and I “to Jesus in his church” We Loved Larry and he loved us. He did not want for us to go to hell. One day, as we sat in his truck after work, I said to him; “It is good that you have Faith, and you read Scripture”. He interrupted me and said, “I read the Bible, the King James Version, not Scripture”. I’d had enough! LOOK, I SAID, THERE ARE 6 BILLION PEOPLE ON EARTH. IF ALL CATHOLICS, MUSLIMS, HINDUS, BUDDHISTS, JEWS, COMMUNISTS, ETC ARE GOING TO HELL, FROM THE GREAT APOSTACY UNTIL NOW, sATAN WINS BIG TIME. Some years later when my friend lay on his death-bed, he asked me to forgive him because he attacked my Faith with such animosity. I said to him, “Larry, I forgave you long ago, and , I Love You, my friend”. The so-called ‘elders’ and friends from his church did not even come to see him in his last days. I was there, as was my wife, until he took his last breath. Just 2 Catholics that Loved him. satan lost that day, because, my Lord, Jesus Christ said 2,000 years ago; : “YOU ARE PETER. UPON THIS ROCK I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH, AND THE GATES OF hELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST IT!” We Love You All. Jim and Emily…

I believe religion is Satan’s favorite to mislead people and that all religions except the Roman Catholic church are devil inspired. Sorry Mormons but I think it was Satan who tricked John Smith. My opinion…
