Christian55,ParkerD: you quoted Daniel 7:9-22, and then stated the following:
**It appears that you are avoiding the issue here. Joseph Smith’s claim that Adam is the “Ancient of Days,” fits well with the words of Brigham Young, who stated very clearly that Adam is God. **
This is a quote from the second Mormon Prophet, Brigham Young, April 9, 1852, found in the Journal of Discourses of the General Authorities of the LDS Church, Volume 1 (For Forum Members who do not have access to the LDS Journal of Discourses, it is online at journalofdiscourses.org/volume-01/):
Brigham Young makes such offensive claims. They are not in anyway related to Catholic doctrine or any other Christian doctrine that I am aware of.
Brigham Young said a few things that I don’t agree with, but I follow a living prophet (not BY) and I’m sure BY will have the chance to explain what he meant to the people who are able to ask him their questions in the spirit world. I personally don’t understand what he is quoted as having said that you noted, and I understand why it has gotten you upset. But you could look at it as a gift, in that it gives you what you want–an axe to grind. If you have studied Mormonism at all, you would know that BY’s quotation has not been upheld as in any way “doctrinal” or “believed” by current leaders in the LDS church. It was BY’s opinion, not a binding teaching.
There is something worth noting, having to do with the sealing power and with the prophecy of Malachi about the mission and return of Elijah the prophet, and the turning of the hearts of the children to their fathers. Adam as the patriarch, becomes the linked oldest patriarch after all the sealing work for the entire human family is completed. Thus, he holds an important position in the patriarchal order of the priesthood as given to men on earth. I have great respect for Adam and for Eve, (as also for Seth and for Enoch, for Noah and Abraham and Melchizedek–some of the other great patriarchs, and for the faithful women they married).
