Yes sir! There is a Luz del Mundo church near where I live here in So.Cal. They are actually everywhere here in So. Cal. Speaking to them is like speaking to JW’s-they simply refuse to listen. 🤷
the timing and what God allegedly told them sounds way like LDS.

And this shows exactly why there were to be no further prophets. God knew folks like this guy and js and ellen white, etc. would come out of the woodwork confusing His people.

Looks like most Mormons stayed as far away from this as possible…too close for comfort.

But IF the Mormon Church was true, seems this church would know SOMETHING about the Book of Mormon since it happened in that neck of the woods…
This gave me a good laugh. I also thought of you as I drove past their church on my way into work this morning.

Seriously, if the BOM took place in southern Mexico, why did Heavenly Father have to use Joseph Smith? He could have easily waited for Gonzalez. Why make Moroni travel all the way from Mexico to NY to bury the plates for Smith to find? He could have easily buried the plates locally for Gonzalez instead. Heavenly Father certainly has a thing with making people walk all over the place for his purposes.

Hi Texan, I notice you’ve cut and pasted a handful of quotes, and the most recent one seems to be more than 40 years old. I see you’ve included quotes from Pratt’s The Seer (repudiated by both the church and Pratt himself since 1865),
Yes, repudiated by Brigham Young because Pratt published against his Adam/God doctrine. Was Pratt wrong about that? Pratt didn’t think so. He continued to hold his ground against Brigham and his Adam/God doctrine until he was threatened with excommunication. That would be the "Pratt himself"part.

But also no, it is not repudiated as your church continues to quote from the Seer in its own teaching materials.

Also, don’t forget the fact that The Seer was approved by the LDS church, and put out by the LDS church, in the same way the Ensign is today.
and McConkie’s Mormon Doctrine, which is not an official book at all, and is often jokingly referred to as “The book of Bruce” for some of the embarrassingly undoctrinal things found in it. From where I’m standing, your response basically proves my claims - we don’t spend a lot of time doing it, individual mormons will, and institutionally there’s been very little.
Wow, when I was LDS Mormon Doctrine was THE book that everyone owned and used and it was published for 40 years by LDS owned Deseret Book. Every missionary had one with them on their mission. Amazing how easily and quickly Mormons turn on one of their own, who once was praised very highly.

yep…he published the book, then was made an apostle.

and now, as Mormons do often…they distance themselves from past leaders that they claim God called.

Exactly! And those people you mentioned were truly prophets of God,then why do they differ vastly in doctrine, teachings, etc? I thought God is not a God of confusion?

it gets worse…not only do the prophets of the different churches teach different things, the prophets WITHIN each church teach different doctrines from their very own earlirt prophets.

geez

Which only reinforces your position:

They are NOT really prophets

Right?

Amen! That much you have hit the nail on the head!
Not sure how to take that…you telling me I am hitting nails during Holy Week…

just kidding.

I wrote a song once about the fact I may not have held the hammer but I held each and every nail as they nailed them into Christ…

Luz del Mundo is a religious denomination. Here are some facts…

Restorationism[edit]
La Luz del Mundo teaches that there was no salvation on Earth between the death of the last Apostle (Apostle John) around 96 AD and the calling of González in 1926. Members believe that the Church itself was founded by Jesus Christ approximately two thousand years ago and that after the deaths of the Apostles of God, the church became corrupt and was lost.[6][57] The Church claims that through González, it is the restoration of the Primitive Christian church that was lost during the formation of the Roman Catholic Church. After those times passed, the beginning of González’s ministry is seen as the restoration of the original Christian Church.[58] Salvation can be attained in the Church by following the Bible-based teachings of their leader.[2]
Calling of the Servants of God[edit]
The Church states that its members believe in “the calling of the Servants of God, sent to express the will of God and Salvation”.[59] It teaches that Flores was elected by God as Apostle and the new leader of the Church after González died in 1964. La Luz del Mundo teaches that it is the only true Christian church founded by Jesus Christ because it is led by Flores, who it considers the only true servant of God and Apostle of Jesus Christ.[6] Members believe that this Apostolic Authority allows them to find peace, feel close to God and attain meaning in their lives from the hopes of joining with Christ to reign with him for eternity.[60]

Sound familiar?

THIS is why there were to be no prophets after Christ.

Christ knew that people like this guy and js, Ellen white and others would claim to be THE prophets of God.
I have to agree. Christ knew that people would claim to be prophets and the second coming, etc. He left us such strict instructions it amazes me that people fail to see it. I just pray for them. They need all of our prayers.

You should post that song up on youtube or something. I would like to hear it.

Here are the lyrics

Copywritten 2001

It Should Have Been Me

You know he didn’t have to, He could have walked away
And who could have blamed Him, it was an awful price to pay
For someone who had never sinned to pay for those who did
We always say it was His choice, but who are we trying to kid

Chorus:
It should have been me, not someone like Him
To pay for all my faults, for each and every sin
And I often wonder as He hung on that tree
If He ever thought that it should have been me

Every stripe upon His back was for something that I’d done
And I made the crown of thorns, I picked each and every one
I placed the cross upon His back, and prayed that He would fail
And I didn’t hold the hammer, but I placed each and every nail

Chorus:
It should have been me, not someone like Him
To pay for all my faults, for each and every sin
And I often wonder as He hung on that tree
If He ever thought that it should have been me

Bridge:
And each time I sin, does He still feel the pain
And does He ever wonder if He did it all in vain
And I stop and wonder every now and then
If He had to do it over would He do it all again….or

Chorus:
Would it be me, and not someone like Him
To pay for all my faults, for each and every sin
And I often wonder as He hung on that tree
If He ever thought that it should have been me

Wow…nice song. In all seriousness, can I share that with my youth group? Have you thought about doing a youtube video performing it so that it can be shared? Those lyrics are amazing!!!

What is their approach? How do they introduce themselves? What topics do they address? How long will they talk without affirmation from their prospect, before leaving? Do they hand out free literature?

Maybe he has done just that! How do we know Joseph Smith translated the golden plates correctly? His “Egyptian Grammar” has plenty of errors, in fact only errors. And his translation of the Abraham manuscript, by all knowledgeable accounts, was also off the mark. It is possible that the Church Joseph built is filled with errors, even apostate. Perhaps God called Gonzalez to restore the plain and precious truths lost when Joseph mistranslated the Mormon Book. Gonzalez has been called to restore the apostate Mormon church. I think any Mormon who sincerely prays about this, will eventually wind up with a good feeling and know that Gonzalez is as true a prophet as Joseph Smith was. But they have to ask, “doubting nothing” (Mormon 9:21), in full sincerity, “doubting nothing” (Mormon 9:25), “with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ” (Moroni 10:5), then he will “manifest the truth of it unto you,”

Well I only had about two encounters with the Luz Del Mundo followers. I do not recall them handing out literature, but they were very similiar as JW’s in regards to the Bible. Case in point, they approached my home unexpectedly during December of 2005 and told me Christmas is not biblical because it is not mentioned in the Bible as well as birthdays and so forth.
