I am no polygamy guru. I frankly just don’t get it or understand it, but I can read. For example, in 2 Samuel 12 God is speaking through his prophet Nathan, chastising David for taking the wife of another man (Bathsheba who was married to Uriah, who David caused to be killed to hide his sin). At that time, Davide was already married to at least 7 known wives.

In verse 8 God specifically says that He, God, had already given David multiple wives that had previously belonged to David’s former master. We know from 1 Kings 15 that all else, beside the issue with Bathsheba, that David had always done right in the eyes of God.

So - David had plural wives. You want us to believe that even though God set it up, he didn’t sanction it.

Why would God set up David’s polygamy and say he was doing the right thing if he didn’t sanction it?
So when Utah was denied statehood because of the very issue of polygamy SUDDENLY one of your seers had a vision that renounced polygamy (how convienent)

No, when the US government had imprisoned many church leaders and confiscated much church property, the LDS president had a vision showing the consequences if they didn’t stop the practice. We have never “renounced” polygamy. We just stopped the practice, and still claim that polygamy was right in God’s eyes when we practiced it.

Why don’t you just admit it? The Bible sanctions polygamy, at least under some circumstances. It isn’t a good argument against Mormonism, if you accept the Bible.

Really?

Can you cite the specific vision and what he saw - who and when?

Note: It a rhetorical question. I know you just made it up and can’t cite squat.

Word to the wise: don’t make stuff up. You’ll get caught.

Listen do your homework!!! My wife was a mormon ( thank God she is now in RCIA) I talked to many mormon missionaries I know what I am talking about. If you want to engage in further apologetic debate I will be happy to take you on.

Let’s talk about eternal progression and becoming like God and having a world that we will have dominion over. Then let’s discuss God’s first commandement. Then you will have a quote in which you reference John 10:34-36 to try to lend credence to attaining godhood.

Exactly as I thought (and predicted). You made it up and can’t substantiate your claim so you try and change the subject. You types are so predictable. Did you think I was going to fall for changing the subject? Seriously? Are you used to posting with children?

Reminder: Don’t make stuff up. You’ll get caught.

Listen I don’t lie or make things up how the hell can you defend your faith if you don’t even know that Utah was delayed statehood for over 50 years and in 1890 your church renounced polygamy. Hello Mcfly anybody home???

Ok you lost that one now let’s discuss your other heretical beliefs.

I showed you where God sanctioned polygamy in post #293 of this thread.

Now it’s your turn, rinnie. Tell me where the Bible says polygamy is adultery.

I’m waiting…
Now sir, I am waiting, Where did God tell us that we could break one of the ten commandments? Where did God ever tell us to worship David or consider him to be God. We were told by moses how to live. We also go by the NT which is a new covenant that was made by God through his Son Jesus Christ. But we also go by the OT which is the same ten commandments.

Did Jesus Christ not come to take away death. Did he not do that by paying for our sins? Was there death in the OT. Yes sir there was, if there was not there would not have been an need for Jesus to come! Was there sins in the OT yes there was. Again Abraham did not tell me to worship David, or go by his laws. Abraham told us to go by Gods law. God told Moses to give us the ten commandments and live by them. God did not tell us to live the way David Did. I am sorry we are not seeing eye to eye on this. But if you can show me where God said to do as David Does and ignore what Moses taught you, Okay. So now I will be waiting. Also if the mormon religion call themself followers of Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ explained this quite clear in the NT not to commit adultery, Let me make this clear in the marriage vow’s two are joined together and are not to be separated by no one. I do not see where it states 3 4 5 6 7.

Sorry to interupt. The issue is alanjeddy said that someone had a vision and the Mormon, I assume they are a Mormon, says to back up that claim. Do not change the subject. Cite or admit mistake. Heck even I am wrong every now and then…It is a rather insulting dodge even I would admit

I don’t lie or make things up I am a serious Catholic involved in Christ’s true Catholic and apostolic church. Apologetics is one of my interests.

Now here is the truth about what the RCC teaches about un baptised children.

quote: ccc As regards Children who have died without Baptism the church can only entrust then to the mercy of God, as she does in her funeral rites for them. indeed the great mercy of God who desires that all men should be saved and Jesus’ tenderness toward children which caused him to say: Let the children come to me do not hinder them, allow us to hope that there is a way of salvation for children who have died without Baptism. All the more urgent is the Church’s call not to prevent little children coming to Christ through the gift of Holy Baptism.

Said with a true sense of Christian love. Spirit lead and articulate my friend. God Bless. Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.

you said there was a vision, the Mormon asked you to provide evidence of the vision and you are skipping around your vision claim. I do not know if there was a vision or not but you said there was. The Mormon said to back it up and you have not. I could care less if there was a vision or not but you are trying to change the subject.

I’m sorry–it’s actually worse than I let on. Here’s what the Baltimore Catechism actually said:

"Persons, such as infants, who have not committed actual sin and who, through no fault of theirs, die without baptism, cannot enter heaven; but it is the common belief they will go to some place similar to limbo, where they will be free from suffering, though deprived of the happiness of heaven” (Q. 632)

So you’re right–Limbo was presented as a “common belief.” But it said no such thing about unbaptized infants not going to heaven. It said they “cannot enter heaven.”

The change in teaching was actually bigger than I thought.
Yep. That’s what I was taught, and in a large degree is why I am no longer Catholic. No way was that ever true.

Listen the issue is that UTAH was denied statehood for over 50 years!!! your church renounced polygamy in 1890 based on one of your seer’s so-called vivions.

My church? I am no more Mormon than the Pope is Baptist. I am just reading this little thread. The Mormon is right about that one minor detail. You just made up or cannot cite. Exclaimation marks aside…What seer? What vision? I just looked it up and there does not appear to have been a vision…at least that I can see.

Now here is the verse:

Rom 7: 1-4 It is implied in verses 1&2 while his wife liveth he be married to another women he shall be called an adulter.

You can not escape the truth if a man or woman marry a second companion it is adultery.

What is Polygamy = More than One wife correct!

The Baltimore catechism was pre-Vatican 11. The church now teaches that God’s mercy is endless and unbaptised children will enter into the beatific vision. The Catholic church is Devinely instituted for sinners and sometimes Mormons and Catholics and Protestants go astray and make mistakes. Remember what Jesus said to Peter 2008 years ago: "You are Peter and on this rock I will build my church. Look not on your sins but the faith of your church and the gates of hell shall not PREVAIL upon it.

Come back home you know you are being drawn home. Christ can heal you He wants to heal you. It doesn’t matter how broken you are or how far you have fallen away. He is calling you back. God bless you, God heal you and goodbye.

Hey, where did Rightlydevde go? Back to Utah to check out their state records?

My main point is that Utah was denied statehood because of the issue of Polygamy. Tell me do you just have a low IQ or are you mentaly challenged?
