Mormons; and their **THREE** Gods....

Well, to cut a long story short;

Mormons believe that Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are THREE different Gods. Not of the ONE God, but three individually different Gods!

So where is the proof for this claim / belief? The bible says that Christ was God in human form and the Holy Spirit is of the one God too, but Mormons say that they are THREE* different people. 🤷

Show me scripture that tells us that God is one being please.
 
For the sake of clarity, Christians do not believe that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three different “forms” of the one God. That is a heresy called Modalism.

Christians believe that the one God exists as a family of three persons, each distinct from the others, yet one in being. That is why Jesus was not praying to himself in the garden of Gethsemane (a favorite taunt made by Mormons).

Of course I know that, I think the way that I wrote it was just a little off-key perhaps?

I understand. It’s easy to use the wrong words when describing the trinity. No problem.
 
Yes, I agree with Paul, it is important to emphasize from the beginning that Trinitarians believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct Persons.

When discussing the Trinity with Mormons, or even other Trinitarians, there is a tendency to describe it in terms of modalism, which is a heresy. So, as Paul already said, it is important to say that the Trinity is not a belief that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are faces or “modes” of God, or one Person.

You guys haven’t even mentioned about their three God’s yet!
 
It all sounds like apples and oranges to me: all fruit and in common. But you guys can explain it for the mere mortals on our forum. But does it really matter?

You claim to be both catholic and mormon and yet you are still recieving communion, correct?

I think I may sound hostile towards you, but please be assured that this is most certainly not the case. I am both with you and against.

Anyway;

Why do you say that it doesn’t matter?

Yea, how about that. But in the end, it really does not matter. When we die, we will not be judged according to our belief about the Trinity. But about our faith in god and our faith in love and in good works.
 
Please, please, please let’s not have this thread derailed already. Why Me, we know these discussions are “pointless” and “lead to nowhere” according to you, but for us, we would like to actually talk about this, and I’m hoping after Conference, a Mormon will give their views as well.

No, you are wrong because if we believe that there are three Gods then we are guilty of idolising GOD’S other than the “ONE” true God, see?

Yes, I am waiting for a mormon to come on here too but whyme is actually 50% mormon and 50% catholic… so…

Why Me has previously stated that doctrinal discussions are “pointless” and “lead to nowhere”. He will generally copy/paste from FAIR, a Mormon apologetic website, and then say that it’s all pointless, reference a saint that we should all be like, perhaps point out something negative in Catholic history like the Inquisition, Crusades, or a very sinful Pope, say that people are wasting their time, and say what matters is to be good people. I’ve learned that it’s best to not ask him doctrinal matters.

It’s best to ignore him and wait for an actual LDS if you would like to discuss the OP (see my post above). 😉

Okay, I see what you mean. I’m very sure that whyme is going through a dark stage where he/she is quite unsure of where her soul belongs and to what church.
