I’ve heard Brighamite/Utah Mormons claim to believe in the trinity
You have? That’s odd. I’m not a trinitarian. I don’t believe in the trinitarian nature of God as defined and instituted in the Nicene creed. In all the times I’ve heard the word “trinity” at church, it’s always come with an explanation as to why we don’t see God in that way.

Maybe you were listening to someone who hasn’t been paying attention?
As I said, our hope would be that through Gods mercy they may be saved like any other non-Christian might be.
That’s kind. I also hope through Gods mercy y’all may be saved like any other trinitarian Christian might be.

Yes and I thought it was odd, too
I’m not a trinitarian.
I know.

after describing what they believe it is not a Christian definition.

OK

It was here at CAF, so I was reading not listening.
That’s kind
Yes, charity is a Christian virtue.
I also hope through Gods mercy y’all may be saved like any other trinitarian Christian might be.
Believing in more than one God is not Christian, so I’m not sure what you are trying to say, but thank you.

In his book “Articles of Faith”, James Talmage (also author of “The Great Apostasy”) has a chapter entitled “God and the Holy Trinity”, and uses the word “Trinity” in a positive way, to identify the LDS belief he is describing (i.e. referring to “members of the Trinity”, “The Godhead: The Trinity”, “each of the Trinity”, etc). Near the end of the chapter, he also describes the “sectarian” view on the Trinity, at the Council of Nice (sic) and the Athanasian Creed.
