Mormons; why don't you have crosses in your churches?

:rotfl:HA HA HA! :rotfl:

I’m not catholic! 😃 lol
OK - - what if the Mormon said “I’d like to beat up all those Methodists claiming to be interested in converting to Catholicism apparently for the sole purpose of irritating Catholics”?

Ali_formerJW;5445975]Oh, well then that explains your hostility.
Oh no… I’m not hostile…
You have yet to find the peace of our Lord. :rotfl: Yes, I am Catholic 🙂
Catholioc …that’s good! 😃 At least you are not mormon! 😉
Glad you hear you aren’t out there roaming the streets looking for poor unsuspecting Mormons to beat up 😉
😛 LOL - we are all sinners but let’s thank the good mercifull Lord that he does not treat us the way we treat each other! 😊

SOUNDS GREAT TO ME; let’s start round one now! 😃 Me versus all of you catholics and mormons! 😉

And the charity continues unabated … 😦

Look, we get it. You don’t like Mormonism, fine. You’re not required to “like” every religion.

But you are required to respect every person, regardless of what religion they profess. So saying you’d like to “beat up those Mormons” is NOT a very Christian thought.

(And please don’t pull the “I’m not a Catholic” card on me, OK? My grandfather is a Methodist, and he would never say a thing like that.)

From what I was told it is because the cross is seen as merely the means of execution. Mormon friends ask “If Jesus had been hanged or beheaded, would you put a noose or a guillotine in your church”
We might, if Christ had talked about “bearing our guillotines or nooses”. 😃

Christ makes his own symbol of his cross. We did not invent that.

Luke 9:23:

[23] Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

No meeting house of un-programmed Friends have a cross or pictures either. Many programmed Friends church houses have no cross.

Having a cross on one’s building…or around one’s neck…or upon one’s wall does not make one a Christian…nor does it in any way indicate that one lives a Godly life nor does it indicate a life of prayer is present.

Showing charity, speaking with kindness, loving responses toward others, seeking to hold the dignity of others above our own are more indicative of a “Christian life” than the presence of a cross in the vicinity.

All this is true, but not more true than saying what you want here but going and acting to the contrary. Wearing a cross or otherwise displaying a cross is a symbol of intent, the intent to love Christ and all that he stands for. We may fall short, but we must always have that intent. A cross is a symbol of love for Christ and his sacrifice and no less an action than the things you mention.

Peace Be With You.

…listen why don’t you go and worship Mary or something? 😃

Here’s another (same, but I happen to like Mark better :)):

Mark 8:34-38 (King James Version)

34
And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Would one honestly believe that Christ did not know he would die on a cross? He purposely chose this as a symbol of sacrifice. If Christ calls this to mind then who are we to question that or deny that it is correct to do so?

I have no problem with displaying “symbols” of one’s love and faith…but living the “reality” of one’s faith and love of Christ is better. The lack of an outward “symbol” of jewlery or wall decoration does not indicate a lack of faith or Godly life.

yeah, and I might add that we use rosaries, unlike mormons. So we have to have a cross in order to have a rosary right? :yup:
I take my rosary everywhere I go and use it more than once daily! I love my cross and the crusifixes on my walls. I pray on them each and every morning and night for my self and my family and to keep my house safe.

That is certainly true 😃

are you serious? Or just like five or six years old?
I clearly said that I was just expressing emotion when I said about beating up mormons, and anyway I know ParkerD (the mormon that posted here a little while ago) very well.

So stop being a meanie to me! …truce?

I’m sorry. 😊

Definitely truce 😃

Okay but, a cross or a crusifix is prayed onto daily, so it does have a very serious meaning and symbolic purpose, Publisher…

I take my rosaries and crusifixes very serious when I pray unto them but I’m sure you know about all this…

Wow, that quickly!? I love you! 😃 Let’s be friends now! ❤️:bible1:

P.S.I have prayed to Mary also anyway!
Awe shoot, this place needs more love! That’s what happens when God is in your heart, right?

Definitely friends 🙂

😃 You’re cracking me up. :tsktsk:

To the question, Mormons pretty much reject anything that might make them look like an abominable Christian church, especially when it has Catholic origins. 🤷
