You know, somebody cooks up a prayer, and everybody follows it, but what do those words mean?

“…for the intentions of thy Sacred Heart…”

isn’t that the equivalent of saying the Our Father, when we say “thy will be done” ? Isn’t that what “the intentions of thy Sacred Heart” mean?

The devotion to the Sacred Heart (also known as the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sacratissimum Cor Iesu in Latin) is one of the most widely practiced and well-known Roman Catholic devotions, taking Jesus Christ’s physical heart as the representation of his divine love for humanity.

From the daily offering to the Sacred Heart:

“…intentions of your Sacred Heart: (colon emphasized) the salvation of souls, reparation for sins, reunion of all Christians.”

Of course, we don’t necessarily need to know these specifically. A virtual offering is fine, i.e. “…for the intentions of your Sacred Heart (whatever those are).”
