Since the first Sunday of Lent, my church has been having ‘Morning Prayers’. It’s not really a formal thing, but Father allows a few of us into the church, and we pray together. Openly, unrehearsed, unrestrained.

We pray in Thanksgiving, we pray in adoration, we pray in contrition and we pray in supplication. We pray, and pray. One person starts, and when they get ‘done’, the next person starts.

After we’ve all had a chance to go around, and no one is ‘finishing up’, then Father normally prays some with us. Then, we get off of our knees, and we sit and he reads to us from the Liturgy of the Hours, or else the Gospel for the day.

This has been AMAZING!

Before this started, I would be so tired all day on Sunday. Now, I get up at 5 am and rush to the church, and I’m awake all day long and not tired (ok, sometimes, I still need a nap, but I’m busier than I used to be, too)

The reason for this was that we wanted to pray for our church, and the members, and that we continue to learn and grow.

Does any one else do anything like this? What would it take for you to start this in your church?:o
