The Catechism is a great gift… perhaps with more time…and getting used to the theology…anyhow I recommend too the Compendium of the Catechism…get a copy… it too is great.

No …just serious things contrary to the Commandments etc…It seems nearly everything human is a grave matter!
This would seem to be the scruples
such can make it seem like that!Look…things like these are grave matters:
Murder
Adultery
Masterbation
Abortion
lying under oath
stealing a large amount of money etc
being drunk (loosing ones reason)
Enslaving people
sacrificing to idols
sorcery
Burning down someones house
Missing Sunday Mass (unless sick etc)
lust
pornography
IVF
Contraception
Rejecting Christ
Things like that
As Christians though…we are set free from sin…and can walk by the Spirit …following Christ…yes we must say no to sin…but our focus needs to be on following Christ…living in thanksgiving as Paul urges…to the Father through Jesus Christ…
If we are in Christ…we are a new creation!
Do not net scruples drag you down…get a good confessor…and then keep “walking” with your focus on virtue…goodness…love…faith…hope…joy…on Christ…
Slowly you can move away from your scrupulosity…and know more and more the freedom of the Children of God…yes you can know then what really is sin…and especially mortal sin…and avoid it like you would avoid terrorists…or something…but with your eyes more and more on Christ and virtue…less on fear…more on hope and rejoicing in the truth…

Sadly, so many things seem to fall under those topics though. Lust is basically endless. I mean, I can’t even really walk out of my house and look at a girl. Some of those seem so trival and unimportant. It seems like torture to try to follow such things. Inhumane really.No …just serious things contrary to the Commandments etc…

Seeing a girl does not per se = lust. (there is a difference between simply noticing some girl and looking lustfully…or seeking sexual pleasure…consenting to lustful thoughts etc…) Yes one needs "reasonable custody of the eyes…and some dress in too immodest fashion…and we need to take care…but also not scruple…
You say you are scrupulous…
So I think part of your difficulty is your scrupulosity (etc) —that is making things this way…
What to do? Pray, focus on the love of the Good Shepherd for you…, and get to a priest to sit down and work on things…
If you have scrupulosity…you need to go see a regular confessor…and like I said…make an appointment to go and sit down with him…you can always call your diocese and ask for a recommendation from the Chancery if need be…but go see a priest…at least start with one soon…
Really this is what you need…less forums (they can help or make things worse) and more seeing your confessor and working these things out.
The help you can get here is limited…you need a real priest who can ask questions and help you see what is sin and what is not…etc…

Just to have a thought pop into your head does not constitute sin. It is what you do with that thought which will determine if it is sinful and how sinful. Yes, trying to go against the world and follow God is torture in many ways. That is why Christ had to die such an ignominuous and painful death on the cross when he took all the sins of the world upon himself. And that is why you absolutely cannot do it on your own. You must constantly call on the power of the Holy Spirit, our Blessed Mother, the saints and angels, receive the Sacraments, pray and read the Bible - in short, use every spiritual tool that you can, and fortunately, there are many, many of them, the greatest being the Mercy of God.
As far as mortal sin is concerned, I think this is the first generation in the history of our 2000 year old church that believes it is difficult to commit mortal sin. Mortal sin is the basic human condition in that without the Cross of Christ and the mercy and grace received from it, we would all be in a state of mortal sin. Original sin is not mortal sin per se, but it has the same consequences. Maybe I’m just more evil than most of the people on this board, but I never found it very difficult to commit mortal sin. Thanks to the grace of God I am not struggling with mortal sin at this point in my life, but that certainly wasn’t true a few years ago. It is so easy to wake up on Sunday morning and decide I’m just too tired to go to Church today; it is so easy in our society to engage in immoral behaviours, such as watching sex-saturated movies in the privacy of my own home, looking at porn on the internet, etc. And yes, those things are mortal sins.
I only wish mortal sin was difficult. As mentioned in this thread, you don’t have to be in outright rebellion against God, you just have to want to have things your own way, and for me, my own way has always been against God’s way. But maybe that’s just me. Maybe other people don’t struggle like I do.

Pleass find a good confessor and deal with him, he is responsible for you in this regard when you are scrupulous. Talk to him regularly.
I would strongly suggest avoiding this board until you are more clear and secure in your walk. I’m not suggesting bolivar is wrong, or is doing this, but there are opinions on this board (and they are just that) that would suggest the most authentically Christia perso you meet in the course of your life is doomed)
