I dont even know how to explain this, because in reality, I’m still confused about everything too. I feel so guilty/confused/scared right now (I thought I had conquered this sin…)
Background: A few years ago, I found myself triggered by dirty thoughts and would wake up masturbating and thinking about these thoughts. Once I found out about the severity of the sin, I stopped the habit immediately and went to confession.
This morning, I woke up, started to say my morning prayers, felt tired in the middle (decided to finish my prayers later), and went to sleep.
While (either half asleep or fully asleep) asleep, images of a someone (fully clothed, but nonetheless exciting to my senses). I remember thinking “Should I keep looking?” and then remember thinking “Well, as long as you don’t masturbate, it’s ok to keep looking. It feels good”. So I continued to travel in this dream to find encounters with similar people (again. fully clothed, but nonetheless exciting to my senses). I’m not sure if this would count as full consent? Sure I was dreaming, but i remember asking myself/or ‘dreaming’ to myself “Should I keep looking?” and then remember thinking “Well, as long as you don’t masturbate, it’s not a mortal sin. Just make sure not to masturbate, and it’s ok to keep looking/dreaming”.
I know it was a dream, because I remember seeing myself from a birds eye view, and clearly remember doing other stupid (non sinful) things. As soon as I was fully awake, I was upset at my self, and KNEW that if the opportunity to look at the same people in my dreams, right then/on the spot after I was fully awake, I would without a doubt say no, because I would hate to commit such a horrible sin. So that makes me think that I must have been ‘out of it’ during my dream, and did not sin. However, what makes me question if it was a sin, is that I remember asking my self “Should I keep looking?” and then remember thinking/DECIDING “Well, as long as you don’t masturbate, it’s ok to keep looking. It feels good”.
HELP!
