Whenever I am unfortunate enough to commit a mortal sin, I become very nauseated and weak. Mortal sin brings on anxiety attacks, and I actually become physically sick. I noticed that many parishes have their confession times listed (usually for saturday), and they also mention “confession upon request”. Does that mean I can call for an emergency confession at 3 AM any time? Mortal sin is a serious issue, and although I don’t commit it often, when it does happen, it has a terrible effect. Would a priest be angry with me if I called him for an emergency confession late at night?
And the thing is, I know in my heart that I agree and profess all that is required of an act of perfect contrition, but there’s always that chance that God rejects it. And so the nausea continues. It’s so hard being sick at night and needing to see a priest a.s.a.p…
