Will God answers prayers from Christians who are currently in mortal sin?

What else can we do? Not pray? I’m sure that’s the worst response to mortal sin.

It is good to say “sorry” in ones own words, but I also recommend the Act of Contrition.

Here’s a useful response to this question from Catholic Answers:
His sins are forgiven when he makes an act of perfect contrition with the resolution to go to confession as soon as possible. The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains: “Among the penitent’s acts contrition occupies first place. Contrition is ‘sorrow of the soul and detestation for the sin committed together with the resolution not to sin again.’ When it arises from a love by which God is loved above all else, contrition is called ‘perfect’ (contrition of charity). Such contrition remits venial sins; it also obtains forgiveness of mortal sins if it includes the firm resolution to have recourse to sacramental confession as soon as possible” (CCC 1451–1452).
This question comes up quite often here. I know that it is quite hard to find answers by using the search box on the site, but this google trick will get you some good results:

I know he does, because I pray for the grace to go to Confession and for him to forgive me and he has answered several of my prayers when I was in mortal sin.

Now if one is hardened in sin and does not care to change their life, I am not sure if God answers their prayer.

God bless.

I think praying is the first step towards true contrition.

I guess it also might depend on the prayer. If someone is in mortal sin and they beg God the grace to forgive them and to get over their fear and go to confession, I am sure 100% He grants it.

However, if the prayer is something flippant and self-indulgent and the person has no intention of going to confession or repenting, I think God might not be so quick to respond…
