Mortal sin?

When I started this thread a while ago I was still searching… Meanwhile I have found the Lord and I don’t have any intention to get back to the church. I do however enjoy good conversations and therefore I only use the areas of the news and the non-catholic religions.
This thread here therefore is just in the wrong category for my convictions. I am sorry for that, but I could not have foreseen that I would fall in love with the Lord, be forgiven of my sins, past, present and future before I actually got there. I look forward to being in His presence one day as I do have assurance of that.
If you feel offended kindly disregard this thread.
If you do so I will not annoy you any further in your catholic walk and stay in the few areas that allow controversial and fruitful discussion.

I did believe the teachings at one point in time, otherwise I wouldn’t have spend hours in front of that thing…

And even though you now no longer believe those hours spent before the Blessed Sacrament were not in vain. Worshiping our God and King is never in vain. One day God will reward you for those hours by bringing back to his one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.

You wrote in another thread that your future sins have been forgiven. That’s not biblical, you know. God has more faith in us than that. He wants us to never sin again, which is why when we do sin we have “…an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the expiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world” (1John.2:1-2). He wants us to be truly holy not just pretend holy.

If you have doubts about the Eucharist then ask God for proof. I had a spiritual experience at Corpus Christi when I received Christ’s body and blood. I believe it’s Christ’s body broken down, like ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

Budgie, this is not the Catholic teaching. Christ is present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Blessed Sacrament. There are no ashes, there is no dust, it is the true Body of Christ.

Zundrah, I think Janet 1983 is looking for a catholic answer, and this is not it.

There is no separation between Christ and His Church. He is the Head. It is not a Headless body.

I understand your intentions, but if what she were saying in the OP was true (I have since learned that it is not) then giving her "hope"to go down the wrong road is a bad idea.

I just have a question:
Someone who was a practicing Catholic up until the age of 22, fully knew everything and did everything required and then turns from the Church and denies major teachings of the Church which this person acknowledged in beforehand:
Is this person living in the state of mortal sin?
This person does not consider this turning against God, but turning against a Church. Is this person committing mortal sins by now defying the teachings of the Church?

Just curious.

Oh, what is not true in her OP?

I have learned that she did not “fully know and do everything”. She has some very serious misunderstandings about Catholicism. I dont’ doubt that she was devout, and believed what she was taught, but the misunderstandings have come out in her posts. She left because she did not understand what the Church believes and teaches, and why. A mortal sin is knowing and deliberately sinning. I believe Janet is very sincere about her faith, and does not intend to sin against God. She is misinformed, and has been drawn astray.

BUT ANYWAY GUANOPHORE, HOW ARE YOU THESE DAYS? You’re post have taught me alot y’know!
