Mortal sin?

There are a few neighborhood ponds close to where I live. I do not live in this neighborhood. Me and a friend went to these ponds to fish. He told me that someone told him that it costs money to fish in the lake. Not a lot of money but it still costs money. When we got to this neighborhood pond we did pay to fish, we just drove to where the pond was and started fishing. I just kind of ignored the fact that it cost money and decided to fish. I will be stopping by this lake again and try and get a season pass to fish there. I feel as if I have like stolen or trespassed on this property and I am concerned that I am in mortal sin now. I did give my consent to it, but is this a grave matter? Any help would be great, thanks.
 
Stealing small amount of money or goods is a venial sin. I bet you looking at a venial sin here.
 
If there wasn’t a posted notice, even if you “knew” about the fee from a friend, I don’t see how this could be sinful, let alone mortal.

So you trespassed and stole whatever fish you caught. Go to confession and when you go back to the pond, pay a restitution for the fish you took while not a member. Tell them you did that and offer to pay for the fish. They will probably say no, but offer anyway.

Not a grave matter, that I can see. But I take my venial sins into the confessional and always, it helps.
 
pm2222, you seem to post a few questions wondering about mortal sins. I think you have even admitted to tending towards scrupulosity. I suggest you stop asking internet strangers about such issues and find a regular confessor to help you. A regular confessor can help lay out some guideliness to help you make determinations and can monitor your ongoing concerns. A regular confessor can also help you understand the true nature of mortal sin (rejection of God), rather than a rigid legalistic interpretation.

Thanks for the answer. I didn’t take any fish I didn’t even catch any even thogh we had bites. I just felt as if I trespassed And fished when I wasn’t supposed to

Calm down! Follow Underaclouds advice; he/she is righty. Go to confession and ask the priest. If you are so concerned about sin, you should go to confession every week-like what was recommended in the olden days, before Vatican II.
Whenever you are in doubt whether or not a sin is mortal or venial, confess it to a priest. He can and will determin how serious an offense against Gd it is. You can usually tell by his admonition to you and how severe a Penance he gives you.
Gd Bless and please calm down. Your offense is minor and will not ruin your life.

Well, you did trespass, since you were supposed to have some sort of permit or get permission to be there. That is against the law. So, even though it doesn’t seem to be a grave matter, not a mortal sin, confess it since it is bothering you. Go and get permission to fish there before going again.

All will be well.
