Mortal sin?

I tend to worry about sin a lot but am trying not too as much. One incident happened though that is beginning to bother me. I was with a couple people and one person was on their phone looking at pictures and others were looking at it too. From some of the things they said I figured they were not good pictures. Then the guy put the phone in front of me and said look at this. I glanced at the phone and quickly turned away and shook my head because I did not want to see a picture that was sexual in a negative way. This has happene before and I confessed it but it happened again and I did the same thing. I looked at the picture but I did not look at the picture lustfuly, it was just right in front of me and the person held it there waiting for me to look at it. Is this a mortal sin?

sure, i can see how one would find that disgusting, many men dont like porn. i am one of them because i dont like how other people are getting portrayed as objects.

but seeing it as a sin assumes that there is some sort of higher power that tells you not to do that. and that is simply stupid.

go ahead and look at pictures like that if you want to. jerk off to it, no one is watching you do it as long as you keep your door closed ;D
 
This person showing the pictures is rather mean.

In any case, you are not at fault. We can even have fleeting thoughts that we conquer more quickly over time with the help of grace, the sacraments, and confession. Keep fighting using the tools God have us.

I don’t think You answered the question even in the least. The question was about mortal sin, and the question was about catholic doctrine. Since your apparently not catholic, you may have not been the best person to answer a question you don’t know.

You turned your head away quickly–you did not sin. (And I can be quite scrupulous and worried about sin myself). In order to commit mortal sin you would have had to KEEP LOOKING at the pictures after you realized what they were and ENJOY them. You would be saying, “Hey, let me see that–wow! Got any more pictures?” Now you must ask the people you were with (since this has happened before) not to do this to you again. If they do not respect your wishes, then it’s time to find new friends. Because while you did NOT commit mortal sin, IF you continue to put yourself in the company of people who will do this to you, you will be committing the sin of “putting yourself in a near occasion of sin.” Rest easy–you’re okay. Just ask God to give you the courage to speak to your friends.
