When one commits a mortal sin does the holy spirit leave? Does the holy spirit ever leave after confirmation or is it only saving grace that is killed?
 
It would probably be fairer to say that in the deliberate and wilful commission of a mortal sin, we leave God behind, rather than Him leaving us.

God NEVER leaves us. He’s always there. He loves us so much He can’t turn His eyes away from us.

It’s just that sometimes we deliberately face the other way.
