So I’ve been told basically by two priests not to go to confession more than once a week even if I think I committed a mortal sin. I feel like I’m in a state of mortal sin and it’s killing me. Should I go to confession early?

Can you tell the priest that you are in a state of mortal sin??

Are you scrupulous? And also remember for it to have been a mortal sin you need 1.full knowledge 2. Grave matter 3. Deliberate consent.

You may want to seek out a Spiritual Director (and bonus if you can get one who is also a priest!). No priest can deny you the Sacrament, but perhaps these 2 know you are dealing with scrupulousness??

If you are scrupulous and you are not sure you’ve committed a mortal sin, then you most likely haven’t. Is it grave matter? Did you KNOW it was grave matter (before you did it)? Did you choose to do it anyway, knowing it was grave matter? Can you say “yes” to all these things?

Chances are you are being scrupulous if two priests have told you not go more than once a week (and if, as a relatively normally virtuous person, you regularly think you need to go more than once a week). You should pretty much just do what they say.

I suggest looking over this: mission.liguori.org/newsletters/scrupulosity.htm
