If i commit a mortal sin, and while i’m committing the sin i suspect and even assume that it’s a mortal sin, but i haven’t actually any knowledge of it being a mortal sin, does that meet the 3 requirements?

I don’t see how you could not know it’s a mortal sin if you “suspect and even assume that it’s a mortal sin.” In any case, God judges us as much by our intentions as by our actions. We may be able to fool ourselves, but we cannot fool him.

Like i used to masturbate. I suspected it was a mortal sin because having lustful thoughts and fornication were both mortal sins. But i didn’t know for sure.

I didn’t count them as mortal sins but you should probably confess them anyway. If one of us finally gets to confession, that is.

I understand. But, if our hearts tell us something is wrong, we ought to not do it for fear it could be a mortal sin. It’s all too easy to give into sin as it is, without ignoring our own consciences. And so we don’t become too scrupulous, we have our confessors to consult. Yes? 🙂

First of all for a person to commit a mortal sin there must be grave matter. This is not something that you can just assume. It either is or it isn’t. Then you must KNOW that the act is grave matter and then you must fully consent to the act. So… the only real answer to your question is that you need to consult your confessor in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Anything else said is speculation and we could post 1000 replies that will never nail this down for you. That is why Jesus left us this wonderful Sacrament. God Bless You:)

Bible Reader, are you and Brooklyn Boy the same person?

Me, Bible, and Image of God should all hook up when we turn 18 ( i don’t know if Image has turned 18 yet but i think he said he hadn’t) and go to mass.
