What do you mean by “a positive inspirational sense”?In a positive inspirational sense yes. If by embellishment you mean a detraction from inspiration, no.
Every word that comes forth from the mouth of God accomplishes it’s purpose. So if the particular passage of scripture is a vision or dream, or is poetry, or some other non literalist writing, it still conveys the truth God wishes to convey.goout:![]()

Ok. The story about Moses and the Exodus isn’t a vision, dream or poetry so is it okay for Catholics to believe that the Scriptures about Moses and the Exodus were exaggerated and embellished?Every word that comes forth from the mouth of God accomplishes it’s purpose. If that is considered embellishment that contributes to saving truth, then great.
If by embellishment we mean something that detracts from Inspiration, that runs counter to the Church’s view.
Typically in these kinds of discussions the words exaggeration or embellishment are used to hack away at the integrity of Scripture.
For example:
“That’s “just” an exaggeration”.
“The Gospel of John contains later embellishments on the Gospel”.
