Oh right, they have fully integrated. That is why there is a Little Havana in Miami, a China Town in numerous cities, a Little Italy in New York City…
So what? They still abide by the laws of this country, and work and pay taxes like everyone else. Moving to another country does not mean that you have to give up your cultural heritage.
And guess what? Each of those groups has defamation leagues or other similar groups that speak out when they see something they believe is unfairly characterizing their ethnic heritage. Moreover, they have their own ethnic restaurants, churches, gathering places, cultural events, etc.
Again, so what? Are they oppressing anyone because of this? Have you heard of Hispanics, or Chinese, for instance, making demands that American restaurants offer their ethnic cuisines on their menus? Muslims on the other hand insist on “halal” foods being served to them where ever they go.
Muslim beliefs are no more “superstitious” than anyone else. Chinatown in NYC celebrates Chinese New Year with firecrackers, parades complete with dragons and Shou Sui.
And do Americans not go and watch these parades? A lot of people enjoy watching spectacles such as those. Are the Chinese forcing their heritage on others because of these parades?
I suppose believing that the devil sleeps up people’s noses at night and has to be washed out every morning, or that an angel will not enter a room if there’s a dog or a picture in it, or that the devil pees in the ears of those who fall asleep during prayer, are perfectly sensible beliefs and worthy of respect!
What about Calle Ocho in Little Havana? Hispanics play popular Latin music and wear flags from their countries of heritage. That’s hardly “integration” or “assimilation” now is it?
They’re just celebrating their heritage! Are they hurting anyone by these things? Are they not working and paying taxes like everyone else and abiding by the laws of this country?
Here on the other hand is what I mean by Muslims not integrating into our society. Here is an example of what the Muslim Accommodations Task Force wants to see implemented for Muslims students in our colleges and universities:
"The task force’s eventual objectives on American campuses include the following, according to the website:
permanent Muslim prayer spaces, ritual washing facilities, separate food and housing for Muslim students, separate hours at athletic facilities for Muslim women, paid imams or religious counselors, and campus observance of Muslim holidays. The task force is already hailing “pioneering” successes. At Syracuse University in New York, for example, “Eid al Fitr is now an official university holiday,” says an article featured on the website. “The entire university campus shuts down to mark the end of Ramadan.” At Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Mich., “halal” food – ritually slaughtered and permissible under Islamic law – is marked by green stickers in the cafeteria and “staff are well-trained in handling practices.”
At Georgetown University, Muslim women can live apart in housing that enables them to “sleep in an Islamic setting,” as the website puts it. According to a student at the time the policy was adopted, the university housing office initially opposed the idea, on grounds that all freshman should have the experience of “living in dorms and dealing with different kinds of people.” That might sound appealing, Muslim students told a reporter in an article featured on the website. But in their view, the reporter wrote, "
learning to live with ‘different kinds of people’ " actually “causes more harm than good” for Muslims, because it requires them to live in an environment that "distracts them from their desire to become better Muslims, and even draw weaker Muslims away from Islam."

And yet these same institutions are banning anything Christian from their campuses.
Can you not see the difference between those demands and the examples you quoted? Can you see these people ever integrating into our society?? Their whole way of life sets them apart from others.
And Catholics at Target pharmacies did not serve birth control. Many Americans would not view that as compatible with “our” way of life either (though I agree with the pharmacists).
I’m glad you agree with the pharmacists. There’s a big difference between dispensing something that can kill a human life, and not scanning a package of bacon! The comparison is ludicrous!
Honestly, some of the messages here seem purely hateful towards Muslims.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! Your remarks could be construed the same way.
