Roman Catholicism no longer world’s largest religion

VATICAN CITY – Islam has surpassed Roman Catholicism as the world’s largest religion, the Vatican newspaper said Sunday.

‘‘For the first time in history, we are no longer at the top: Muslims have overtaken us,’’ Monsignor Vittorio Formenti said in an interview with the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano. Formenti compiles the Vatican’s yearbook.

He said that Catholics accounted for 17.4 percent of the world population – a stable percentage – while Muslims were at 19.2 percent.

‘‘It is true that while Muslim families, as is well known, continue to make a lot of children, Christian ones on the contrary tend to have fewer and fewer,’’ the monsignor said.

Formenti said that the data refer to 2006. The figures on Muslims were put together by Muslim countries and then provided to the United Nations, he said, adding that the Vatican could only vouch for its own data.

When considering all Christians and not just Catholics, Christians make up 33 percent of the world population, Formenti said.

Actually, what this all really boils down to is that our culture has been so diluted by Political Correctness, with its triune godhead (Tolerance, Diversity, and Multiculturalism) that we no longer believe that Christianity is the only true Faith, or the only way to salvation.

The Muslims, on the other hand, reject Political Correctness. They couldn’t care less if they “offend” anyone, they don’t care if they’re seen as racist, ethnicist, Islamocentrist, or any other “-ist”. They unquestioningly believe with all their hearts, souls, and minds that Islam is the One True Faith, and they are not afraid to die (or kill) for that confident belief.

In short terms, they are stronger in their faith than we are. Which, despite all our great technological and cultural superiorities, gives them the advantage.

Well, you can think whatever you like; but my old daddy used to say that truth is like a dead skunk under your house. Yes, it’s an unpleasant thing to have to go down there a deal with—but just pretending that it isn’t there ain’t gonna make it stink any better.

Well yeah, if I was born in a religion that demanded me to believe this way or die. I would probably grow up Muslim. How many Muslim live in fear of their life , when they cant consider to find Truth by the Spirit of God. And have to believe at gunpoint in Islam.

Radical Islam knows that They can only survive by the sword and the supression of freedom of religion to individuals to believe in God is their strong points and credit to their populace growth.Not to mention abortion, woman becoming career minded, and Men who do not consider family a blessing from God in Christian countries, that has added to the Islamic religion to surpass the Catholic populace.

Since the koran allows the use of intimidation, war and jizya to coerce people into their political-religous belief system, I don’t think you can make a one to one comparison. While each on some level require the rejection of the other, they are not analagous systems. One, Christianity, offers a spiritual and moral framework with a coinciding supernatural set, while the other, Islam, offers a political-sociological framework imposed by traditional political sociological means, reinforced with violent punishment sanctioned by private Islamic courts, Islamic gangs, or Islamic governments.

Death is the koranic penalty for conversion to Christianity. Analogies might make for headlines, but do little to seek the root causes. In any event, apples and oranges.

This is not something to take lightly any way you look at it. Islam teaches that WE are the enemy and that WE should all die. I have watched the controversial short film that has Muslems up in arms. It is the same rhetorric that is used in Christianity to divide us from one another. One line was taken out of context and used to instill fear. However, you can’t say that about the Islamic leaders getting everyone worked up to take over Europe and the US and to kill all Jews and Christians. We can follow Jerusalems example and sit back with our head in the sand and wait for them to bring us down. Or we can start educating ourselves as well as everyone we meet. We need to start evangalizing! This is something that historically, Catholics never do. If we are to keep our freedoms, or at least the freedoms of our children, then we need to help propogate Christianity. We need to join with our fellow Christians and quit bickering about our small differences so that we can focus on educating Muslems about the truth.
Whew! Ok, I’m off my soap box now.

Seriously, though, I think the numbers are probably a bit skewed anyway. Many Muslim countries refuse to acknowledge anyone who wants to leave Islam, and their governments will still report such apostates as “Muslims” in their statistics.

If you do not realize what moslems intend for those like you, do a little reading. You are a pig or a dog or a monkey who is to be converted or killed. The West had better wise up before it is too late. As another poster has said, moslems care nothing for Political Correctness. They do not care if they offend you in accomplishing their goals nor trampling on your rights or religion.
