Most Europeans don’t support Same-Sex marriage

Average European approval rating for homosexual marriages is 44%. 63% of respondents to EU survey say religion is too aggressive.

BRUSSELS – One Italian in three is in favour of same-sex marriagesand attitudes across Europe are even more open. On average in the 25 EU countries, 44% of citizens think that some form of union between male or female homosexuals is acceptable.Public opinion is more favourable in countries where marriage or de facto unions are already permitted, the peak being Holland with an 82% approval rating,followed by Sweden with 71%, Denmark with 69% and Belgium with 62%.

Wow that is pretty surprising but is certainly encouraging too.
 
To be honest, I’m not all that surprised. People in Europe really aren’t all that much different from us Americans in many ways, even religion. This source is one of the major Italian newspapers, the Corriere della Sera (Evening Courier). I would be interested in hearing from our European forum members on this.

I’m not that surprised. If we had a different perception, it was probably because media reports mostly tried to present it that way.
 
I’d be interested to see how many had no opinion or refused to answer – 44% in support doesn’t mean the opposition holds a majority, and the article doesn’t provide a complete breakdown of responses.
