Really?

It reminds me of my 70s childhood in Catholic schools.

Catholic schools were great, the sisters were great, but this song… It isn’t that it was so bad, just that we sang it at every Mass. Until High School, when we replaced with with Blest Be the Lord, which I like very much.
Add “That There May Be Bread” and “Peace is Flowering Like a River!” 😃 Oh, I still remember those. I had “Bread” stuck in my head a while ago and just…couldn’t…place it…and when it came to me, I felt like I was in 2nd grade again. 😛

This song is so beautiful! The first time I ever heard it was at the funeral of a well-loved priest. All the priests who had attended his funeral surrounded the casket and sang it acapella. It was incredibly moving. I love the English translation as a prayer, but prefer for it to be sung in Latin.
May I suggest Hadyn’s

It’s such a tragic event in Scripture, but the joyful, bright melody is uplifting:

Babochka, you reminded me to add a couple of more:

Pribihajem k Tebi (To You We Come In Prayer)
and O Maria Mati Boze

When I was a child I herd this young lady sing this song that I so much fell in love with.

Do you really love

Do you really love me?
Jesus said to Peter.
Do you really love me?
Jesus said again.
Yes I really love you…
Peter said to Him…
Than feed my sheep He said,
Peter feed my sheep.

I can’t remember the rest. I sure do wish I could hear her sing it again though.

I Am The Bread Of Life - this was the communion song the other day. I did not receive the Eucharist because I had a grave sin which I had not confessed. I did however receive a blessing with my armed crossed. As I knelt in prayer afterwards, this song penetrated my heart and I could not stop from crying, especially during the chorus.

I am the Bread of life,
He who comes to Me shall not hunger,
He who believes in Me shall not thirst.
No one can come to Me
Unless the Father draw him.

And I will raise you up,
And I will raise you up,
And I will raise you up on the last day.

The bread that I will give
Is My flesh for the life of the world,
And he who eats of this bread,
He shall live for ever,
He shall live for ever.

And I will raise him up,
And I will raise him up,
And I will raise him up on the last day.

Unless you eat
Of the flesh of the Son of Man
And drink of His blood,
And drink of His blood,
You shall not have life within you.

And I will raise him up,
And I will raise him up,
And I will raise him up on the last day.

I am the Resurrection,
I am the Life,
He who believes in Me
Even if he die,
He shall live for ever.

And I will raise him up,
And I will raise him up,
And I will raise him up on the last day.

Yes, Lord, we believe
That You are the Christ,
The Son of God
Who has come
Into the world.

And I will raise him up,
And I will raise him up,
And I will raise him up on the last day

Hi friends!
This is City of God Hymn…

Awake from your slumber! Arise from your sleep!
A new day is dawning for all those who weep.
The people in darkness have seen a great light.
The Lord of our longing has conquered the night.

Refrain: Let us build the city of God.
May our tears be turned into dancing.
For the Lord our light and our love has turned the night into day.

We are sons of the morning; we are daughters of day.
The One who has loved us has brightened our way.
The Lord of all kindness has called us to be
a light for all people to set their hearts free.

God is light; in God there is no darkness.
Let us walk in the light. God’s children one and all.
O comfort my people make gentle your words,
proclaim to my city the day of her birth.

O city of gladness now lift up your voice,
proclaim the good tidings that all may rejoice.

You know it? [BIBLEDRB][/BIBLEDRB]
I love it!

Jesus, My Lord, My God My All has just moved into my “top three!” 😃

I like your choices, Ecce Homo. They are more in line with my church music preferences. 👍
