Most non-Catholic sects declare that the Holy Spirit is 'teaching' them the truth.

Actually, I hope and pray that Vatican II is the Holy Spirit’s grande finale, returning HIs Church to unity.

When Jesus told
Peter “Thou art Peter, On this Rock you will start my church”, giving Peter reign as the first Bishop of Rome who reigned for 25 years, the first pope. Orthodox do not follow the pope, therefore the Catholic church comes from Jesus Christ as handed down to St. Peter, 265 popes later with an unbroken link. No one else can claim this, not the Orthodox who broke off from the Catholic faith in the year 1054 in unity with the pope. This is why the HS guides the Catholic church.

Moses may have been taught by his mother, but God also reveals Himself to Moses besides that. God Called Samuel even at a young age. and an audible voice is not the only way God communicates and has never been. Audible is not necessarily “Better” God spoke Audibly to me once… It was not better. I was ashamed I had not listened properly before that!
And there can’t possibly be so many exceptions to the rule as to account for every Protestant religion on earth, each with its own “Holy Spirit” telling them all manner of contradictory things.

Or even every Cafeteria Catholic. The fact that lots of people disobey and deceive (either themselves or others) does not mean the Holy Spirit is without power to teach properly.

Second you bring up the Crusades “again” and let me explain to you . The Muslims were invading the Byzatines and the Emperor called the Roman Pontiff for some back up help. The pope then sent the Christians to defend the Byzantines. Thank God for the Crusades.

I’ve never brought the Crusades up as a way to attack Catholics. The Crusaders did commit atrocities when they took Jerusalem, and that is inexcusable, but I am well aware as to why they were called. They were the right thing at the right time, but some men did horrible things in the course of them. Read what I wrote in its context and you might see my point.

As some others have said, evidence of reform is everywhere, but if you paid attention I never even said that he did cause reform. That was never my point, and it was never even implied. Re-read what I wrote in its context and you will see that.

And your point is? Maybe it’s cited cause it happens to be true, but I would not expect you to even come close to agreeing with that.

Jesus gave the promise to Peter, so it stands to reason that Peter’s successor inherits the promise. Peter’s successor is Pope Benedict XVI, so, that would be the Catholic Church. 🙂
