As a Protestant wanting to come into the Church, I have been reading about the various sacramentals, and quite frankly, I’m absolutely overwhelmed. I don’t think I could devote myself to 4-5 different sacramentals; that being said, I have devoted myself to the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

I’m wanting to devote myself to a single sacramental that has been proven to be the single most powerful, grace-filled, holy sacramental.

Is there a particular sacramental that would be recommended?

A sacramental is an object or action, and there are indulgences associated with the use of certain objects (they are signs) and prayers. An indulgence may be partial or plenary. Examples are a half hour of scriptural reading of an approved Bible translation with reflection, the Way of the Cross, the Rosary, and the wearing of a scapular (on particular days). The one that is best is the one that you can conduct with the greatest perfection.

Yes, it can be extremely overwhelming. I’m a convert, too. I believe the two most important sacramental are the brown scapular and the rosary. I wouldn’t go anywhere without them.
God Bless You!

The brown scapular and the Rosary are at the top for me! 👍

Peace.

For me I feel they are my Crucifix, Miraculous Medal, Brown Scapula & Tau; all of which I wear daily. I also carry my Roasry & a small bottle of Holy Water with me as well. But, if you wish to have a single sacramental; choose the Rosary.

God’s creation: the heavens and the earth, all of nature, especially man (human life) is the greatest, in my mind, is the primary and most powerful sacramental.

I also most highly reccomend the rosary & brown scapular because they are among the 5 conditions of the Fatima message. May Our Lady Bless you and keep you as a result.

Coinsidently, I recently listened to a taped message by Fr. Rafferty recorded in 1958 of an interview with Sr. Lucy (now St. Lucy) in which she became very excited, actually striking the screen which separated them and pronouncing the brown scapular was a necessary element to the 5 conditions of the Fatima message.

Thank you so much for posting this! Do you also know the other 5 conditions of the message?

Let me see.

We are to consecrate ourselves to Our Lady “Mary Most Holy” with a promise to do the below.
  1. To offer up everyday the sacrifices demanded by our daily duty. “The morning offering”
  2. To pray at least five decades of the Rosary daily while meditating on the Mysteries.
  3. To wear the Scapular of Mount Carmel as an act of consecration to St. Mary.
  4. To accomplish the devotion of the Five First Saturdays of the month, including the fifteen-minute meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary.
  5. Renew this promise often, especially in moments of temptation.
