Sacramentalist:
This is an accusation made by Trinitarian apologists, but I’ve never seen a serious scholar affirm it. On the contrary, scholars have praised the NWT for its accuracy. You can find this on the Watchtower website.
Of course the NWT is biased; but then, so are all Bible translations, even Catholic ones. No one denies this.
All translations are flawed & biassed, true - but the NWT is conspicuously bad.
equip.org/free/DJ520.htm is a page of quotations from some more than competent NT scholars, not least Metzger, Barrett, & Moffatt. They either condemn the NWT rendering of John 1.1, or they explain why the rendering of John 1.1 met with in the NWT is inadequate.
“Who are these scholars? Many of them are world-renowned Greek scholars whose works the Jehovah’s Witnesses themselves have quoted in their publications, notably Robertson, Harner, and Mantey, in defense of their “a god” translation of John 1:1! Westcott is the Greek scholar who with Hort edited the Greek text of the New Testament used by the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Yeager is a professor of Greek and the star pupil of Julius Mantey. Metzger is the world’s leading scholar on the textual criticism of the Greek New Testament. It is scholars of this caliber who insist that the words of John 1:1 cannot be taken to mean anything less than that the Word is the one true Almighty God.”
Metzger is, to say the least, no slouch. Barrett likewise

Moffatt was a translator of the Bible, and one of the consultants for the RSV. One could go on. They are all critical of the NWT.
For example, there is the insertion of the word “other” in Colossians 1.16 - which is without foundation in the witnesses to the text, and seems to be based solely on the doctrinal requirements of JW theology.
Even worse is the reading, over 200 times, of the (artificial) Divine Name “Jehovah”, without one scrap of evidence for such a reading in the witnesses to the text. Not only is “Jehovah” not the Divine Name in the OT - it is nowhere used in the Greek NT. “Lord” in the NT translates “Kurios” - not Adon, Adonai, or anything similar. Nor is the form Iabe = Iave] used in the NT, frequent as it is outside it as a rendering of the Tetragrammaton. ##
