one of them was a green felt toilet lid cover with santa’s face on the top. when you opened the lid, santa was covering his eyes.
I think this one wins the prize!

1ke, your birch candelabra will look so cool!

We have a pickle ornament.
Pickle ornaments are awesome. My mom used to hide ours on the tree each year, and whoever found it would yell “I found the Pickle” and re hide it. The tradition says that the first kid that finds it gets a special present, but we like our version better.

Funniest thing in my decorations is the small plastic (inscale)pengiun, pelican and anteater that are mixed into my Fontannini Nativity. The are left over from the Great Nativity scene war between my sister and I my Freshman year in college. Basically I would set up my Navtivity scene which was then about 60 pieces, it’s now about 80. Then I would get upset when people rearranged it. I set it up when I was home for Thanksgiving, and while I was gone my sister and my mom plotted all different things they could do to it without “rearranging it”.

They first put little red bandanas on every character. I retaliated by dressing my mom’s large natvity in various Barbie accessories. (Baby Jesus looks great with Hot Pink Sunglasses)
They then took all the bandana’s off…and nothing seemed wrong. Until I looked closer, and noticed a penguin standing next to the manger…looking like he was about to dive into it and attack Baby Jesus. Then I saw the Pelican hiding in the Three Wise Men’s group, and an anteater mixed into the sheep. I’ve kept them over the years, and the Penguin is always tucked into the stable somewhere (away from Baby Jesus), and Pelican usually hides behind a camel, and that anteater is always in the flock of sheep. The first time I put them up after I was married, my husband looked at me a little strangly, but I think he is used to them now.

A friend of mine has a snowman toilet cover, and every time I went to the bathroom I felt like I was mooning him. She insists it could be a snowwoman, but that doesn’t make it any better 🙂

I read an article about converting my hanging planters for Christmas, so I cut some greenery and bought tiny ornaments, silver birch twigs, and these red sparkly stick things to put in them. It sounds good, but in reality what we’ve got looks really post-modern and spacy.

I have a full-size leg lamp from “A Christmas Story”.
people around the block from me have one too. it was in the front window for awhile, and then it disappeared. then yesterday when i walked by, it was back again in the front window!! 😃

I saw the leg lamp in a store TODAY! If I was a single man, I would soooo get it. I love that movie. 😃

I have a hand made ornament from my Mom and sister…wait for it…wadded up wrapping paper and packing tape…I put it on my tree every year 😃

Oh, and I LOVE A Christmas Story!! It was my first real date 25 yrs ago. Wow, I feel old now:eek:

Funniest thing we have: DH and I are pretty big Simpsons fans,
We have a couple of Simpsons ornaments, but not the one you mention.

We have a juke box ornament that plays an Elvis Christmas song!

I have a fuzzy Christmas tree that has eyes and ears and a mouth and it sings “oh christmas tree”. My DS is fascinated by it!

My Dad has this train that is supposed to say “N-O-E-L” but the manufacurers messed up so it says “L-E-O-N” Every year my Dad would proudly display it and my Mom would go on about how tacky it was and try and hide it. I’m sort of sad this year. It’s going to be a hard one for my family (parents divorcing)

I have been able to get the traditional photograph each and every year of one of the cats up in the Christmas tree. Does a cat count as an unusual Christmas decoration – does it count double if I sing a chorus of "And a pussycat in a pine tree . . " for the first day of Christmas? :o

I say yes, as cats always fancy themselves better than any human, and they are on the lookout for an opportunity to pose.
