All you young gals who are wondering what you will miss if you become a nun need to listen to a former movie star tonight. All you older gals and guys who remember Elvis… you also might want to see the touching story of why being a nun was the choice of a beautiful young woman who was on her way to stardom. Dolores Hart was the cute gal who gave Elvis Presley his first on screen kiss and also co-starred with other impressive leading men.
Try to put yourself in her shoes. Let’s say she stayed in Hollywood and became famous and wealthy. Now that she is in her 70’s she would have very little in her heavenly “savings bank”. Since she chose God instead of fame she is doubly noble in my eyes. It is so much harder to “give up” fame and material things than it is to never have them in the first place.
Watch her tonight on EWTN Live 5:00PM Pacific 8:00PM Eastern

:nun1::D:thumbsup:

It was wonderful! I hope you all saw the show. I don’t want to comment on it too much because I would spoil all the surprises.
If you live on the west coast it will be repeated tonight at 10. Either tape it or watch it. You won’t regret it.
Tomorrow morning it will also be on. 6:00Am for early bird west coasters and 9:00AM for the east.

Yes, it was wonderful! If anyone gets the chance, they should watch it as it was inspiring.👍

aww… i think i missed her! i am in the Philippines and it’s already 7pm! :bighanky:

hey i am watching her now!!! Thank God!

but it buffers too much…

I remember her as St. Clare in the movie “Francis of Assisi”.

Wish I could watch the interview-don’t have cable or satellite, and I can’t get it on my computer.

I saw it at 9:00 the next morning after the daily Mass.My mother and I watched it together,because she was a fan of Delores Hart when she was younger,and she wanted to hear her story about her entering the Abbey.It was so beautiful,I had tears in my eyes at the end of the show!

As an added note, Google Regina Laudis Monestary to see where Mother Hart has served all these years. Another good thing to do is to buy (or get at the library) a book called Mother Benedict which is about the wonderful nun who founded the monestary. She was an American who got her MD degree in France and then entered the Benedictines there before WWII. Then she felt called to begin a monestary in the US. It’s a wonderful book.

Also, this just brings a question to mind. Mother Hart is a Benedictine who wears the wonderful traditional Benedictine habit. Google a Benedictine community that does not wear the habit; that’s not hard to find, believe me, and note the difference between the older sisters there in their polyester pantsuits, etc., and the impression Mother Hart makes. Which would you rather see? Why don’t the Benedictine orders who have given up the habit–and are dying for lack of vocations–go back to the traditional habit like Mother Hart wears? If they did, I’d be willing to bet that their vocations would pick up dramatically! Just a thought . . . 🙂
