Mother Mary

Is it wrong to feel a “love” for Mother Mary? I don’t mean a love as to worship her like God, but a love as if she’s our mother, heavenly mother, and talk to her in your prayers, actually believing she can hear you, and cares for your soul, and will pray for you?

I feel this lately, I just want to make sure I’m not comitting idoltry. I don’t worship her, but I like talking to her like my mother, and feeling a closeness to her.

Do you love your own mother, and talk to her? Most people love their moms, but don’t feel that they are putting them before God. You are aware that this is wrong (to put Blessed Mother before God), so I wouldn’t worry about that. Anyway, be sure that somehow she will always lead you back to her Son, if you fall inot this error. But don’t let it scare you away from loving her.

Marian writers like St. Maximilian Kolbe and St. Louis de Montfort make a good theological case that Mary has been so filled with supernatural grace that it is litterally, theologically, impossible to “overdo” your devotion to her. They make a good claim that Mary infallibly leads her clients to her Son. So, go ahead, let lose! Mary is the most direct path to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
