Mother Theresa bashing?

I heard on a non-catholic radio show that Mother Theresa kept tens of millions of dollars away from being used to provide comfort the sick and dying because of the Church’s teaching on the redemptive value of suffering.

She didn’t keep the money to indulge herself, it just sat unspent because she believed that the suffering of those she was helping would help their souls enter Heaven. Is this true?

Is this baloney? …or is there something to it.

I’ve heard stories like this before only it had more to do with her extreme fews on poverty.

The following is what the stories tell.

She ordered hypodermic needles reused over and over even after they were dulled to nothing, refused to allow the sisters to use computers that where donated instead they were to use notepads then to use a rubber eraser to clean them off and re-re-reuse the pads ect.

They (Missionaries of Chairty) had the money for newer and better gear but refused due to Mother Theresa’s devotion to being poor, so the money just sat in a Vatican bank account.

The problem is that she isn’t around to defend herself. Nobody is accusing her of taking the money for herself. The accusation is that rather than use the money to provide pain relief etc, the money sat in the bank unused and she allowed suffering to continue in an effort to increase the grace which would help those she is caring for to gain eternal life.

Man… I hope this isn’t true.

Christopher Hitchens and a former nun (Susan something or another) of Mother Theresa’s order are at the forefront of this attack. I have no way of knowing if she actually was a nun though.

Even if funds were transfered to Vatican accounts, we can’t exclude that they are not being used by other apostolates or missions where their main virtues are not corrupted.

I would like to learn more about the facts surrounding these accusations though.

My friend you must have missed my post where I said the same thing only difference was I she was overboard with the vow of poverty thing.

However these rumors are why I never send a dime to her organization and prefer groups that are very transparent with what is done with the money.
