If God cannot be Father because that would mean that there is a mother, grandfather, etc. does that mean that if there is a mother, there must be a Father?

Hi

God is the Creator of everything; of fathers, mothers, grandfathers, etc. He needs no wife, no son, and no daughter; none at all. Metaphorically one can say that;but literally and physically no.

Thanks

I am sorry, I must not have been clear.

If there is a Father, must there be a Mother?

If there is a Mother, must there be a Father?

Hi

Your mind is still locked in some previously conceived ideas. For its clarity; I would state that in absolute terms there would only be a male or female unless they mate and in due course of time an issue may take place only with the mercy of the Creator- ONEGod. In human terms unless a marriage/nikah/sexual-intercourse takes place, the concept of father is not valid. In certain animals a she could rarely become mother witout mating with the male.

Well that is an exception. In humans the West does not record; such phenomenon could take place, while ancient history does record of marvellous good person being born from the Virgins.

You are welcome for your queries.

Thanks and regards

So there can be a Mother with no Father?

God cannot be the father because he isnt any ones real father in the earthly sense. Not becasue he is bound by earthly rules where he has to have a wife.

You can say that God is everythings father in metaphor.

Yes there can be a monther without father. Mary.

So was Jesus correct when he called himself the Son of GOd?

Or when he taught us to call God “our Father?”

Or did Jesus have no father at all?

Hi

God created everything, correct, so that is why He is called Creator.

He created everything, animals, insects, trees, inanimates. Do the Catholic ever call that God is father of a horse, or a monkey, or a serpent, or an aeroplane or a rocket or a chair? No, they won’t say like that.

They never rest on that ; can they say a certain monkey or a horse is a begotten son of God or only begotten son of God?

Let God remain Creator,please.

Please don’t mind , this is only a discussion to understand certain things in search of truth; no disrespect is inteded to anybody.

I love Jesus and Mary as a I do love Buddha and Krishna.

Thanks

If Jesus is only speaking metaphoically, why did he use the word Abba, which translates into “Daddy,” the informal, affectionate of Father?

I don’t really understand the question, Ralph.

Jesus was created with a mother, but no father.

Adam and Eve were created without a mother or father.

Hi

Abba is in Arabic just as father is in English; really no difference. Since few words spoken by Jesus in Aramaic or Hebrew languages are preserved in NTBible; the rest the lost altogether, so this attracts the Catholics more.

Now, Just think if all the original text in Aramaic or Hebrew spoken by Jesus would have been preserved; how great it would have been? But they failed to preserve it; a misfortune.

I love Jesus and Mary as I do love Buddha and Krishan

Thanks

There is a base hole in the logic that says God cannot be Father since there is no Mother if there has been a Mother with No Father.

Adam and Eve were created as fully developed adults. They were not born.

"Such was Jesus, the son of Mary; it is a statement of truth, about which they vainly dispute. It is not befitting to the majesty of God, that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! When He determines a matter, He only says to it, ‘Be’ and it is" (Quran 19:34-35).

anyone who knows basic Christianity can see Muhammad is attacking a strawman because he is attacking the physical understanding of the titles, and Muslims follow him, that is why they ask, like Muhammad, how can Allah have a son if he has no wife?

God is indeed just One God. Far be it from His glory that He should have a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and in the earth. God is sufficient for a guardian" ( 4:171).

Again, muhammad thinks that the sonship title belittles Allah since he is not self-sufficient anymore, because Allah will need a women to have a son.

Wonderful Originator of the heavens and the earth! How could He have a son when He has no consort, and He (Himself) created everything, and He is the Knower of all things. S. 6:100-101

again, Muhammad wonders how can Allah have a son if he is the creator of women in the first place and doesn’t need her since he is self-sufficient?

If Muhammad understood, even a little bit, what the sonship of Jesus meant , he wouldn’t have repeated again and again that Allah needs no women and that he is self-sufficient and that he is the creator .

Who says God “cannot” be Father? Who has the authority to state such a thing?

That is an important question. From this thread alone:

Now, some of these posts say that God can metaphorically be Father, but if that is the case, why are we taught in the Qur’an to see him as Master?

Jesus is the Son of the Father in that he is God from God.

A horse is not God, I am not God, so I can be an **adopted **son of God, but not a son in the sense that God has revealed Jesus to be LORD (ie the name given at Sinai for God).

Jesus is called ‘offspring of the holy one’. He is true Son, true God. One reason we call God Father is because his Son told us to call him this. So the relation between the Son and the Father is because God has revealed this to us. We did not choose these names, God chose these names.

The second question I asked was not answered, and it was not rhetorical.

Who has the authority to say God can or *cannot *do something??

some posters try to give their opinions but Muhammad says nothing of the like…he even twisted the Lord’s prayer and started it with “our Allah in heaven”. You know, Allah, wife and son is a no no because Allah is self-sufficient.

Didn’t Muhammed say it?
Did he?

My question was who has that authority. I mean, someone could say (na’udhubillah) that “God can not create humans.” The fact that he said such a thing doesn’t mean he has the authority.

So my question remains, who has such an authority to say that God can or cannot do something.
