How I wish I could ask him why he wandered off and how he found his way home again But, like a good many such things–it’s a mystery known only to God. Sorry to ramble on, but I’m so happy to have the little scamp back home. Thanks again, everybody!
It’s one of those times when you are so happy he is back but wished you could paddle his tiny kitty butt in being gone and making you worried.

Ahh, to get inside the head of a cat. 🤷
Perhaps the lesson learned is that you are to trust God and hand over the worry to Him in prayer.

Sounds like you did a fabulous job. God is great.

So true! LOL! Since he’s a cat all I could do is ask him scoldingly, “Where have you been?” His response was totally cat–he ignored me completely! 😃 So, I hugged and kissed him instead.

Yes, all the while Sammy went “walk about” we prayed for his safe return, but always realizing he was in God’s hands no matter what the outcome might be. 🙂

ohhhh, is that what Sammy told you he did? The cat “walk about”?:rotfl:

ahhhhh Sammy, Sammy, Sammy.🤷 Hope he learned there’s no place like home.

[sign]Whoo hoo![/sign]

Glad to read that Sammy is back! I like happy endings like this one 👍

Sammy is sticking pretty close to home now, even though he’s been out since returning. jrab has got it in one–he looked at me as if to say,“What’s all the fuss about? I only went walk about.”

He’s on our bed sleeping near Merry now–it looks like mending that relationship is going to take some time. It’s just like he never was gone. I think he has learned his lesson, just like Dorothy, there’s no place like home.

Thank you again everyone for all your prayers, advise, concern, support, and being happy with us. God bless you all!

Years back, some kids joy-riding deliberately swerved and killed a cat in front of our house. Everyone agreed that it was our cat, though CSI was not called in. I was told the sad tale when I got home from work.

I was alone in the house about 9pm when our cat awoke from wherever he had been sleeping for the day and strolled out to the kitchen to ask about supper. That was a rather startling moment.

Reminds me of my cat wally (she lived to be 17 and was even a part of the divorce decree just like a person.Go figure). She wasn’t “allowed” into the house but my sisters and i snuck her in ever night. One night when we weren’t home i guess she got in by herself. Well my dad and step-mom decided to watch “Pet Cemetery”. In the middle of the night wally got into their room and since she was use to sleep on a person she decided to sleep on my step-mom. Lets just say that waking up to a cat looking at you after watching that movie was not fun. Dad said she screamed quite loud.

GLAD your kitty came home safely. I am in the process of looking to adopt my two cats out and it is breaking my heart.

That is eerie. do-do do-do do-do do-do…

It’s funny you relating this story because we had often called Sammy our “ghost cat” because he would come and go so silently through the house we hardly noticed if he was there or not. But when he didn’t come home the first night we knew he was gone then.

About the names we have for him besides his given name, wasn’t it T. S. Eliot who wrote that every cat as at least three names? I guess it’s true, isn’t it?

Della, I’m so glad your Sammy came back home!:extrahappy:

Years ago I had a cat called Boris who disappeared. He had been gone several weeks when my flatmate at the time decided to walk down to the other end of our long street - she saw movement in one of the windows, and there was Boris staring out at her! The people who lived in the house had found him in their back garden and taken him in and called him Bluey (he was ginger). We got him back easily because the little scamp had been using their furniture as a scratching post!

That is TOO funny! All 5 of my cats have a gazillion different names - which they come to. LOL, the only time I call them by their real name is when they’re being fresh. 😛 People think I’m crazy because they all have middle names, too.

I’m sorry Della…I will say a prayer for you and your cat to hopefully return home. We have had a cat for the past five years, and we would be sad too if he disappeared. My husband might not be:rolleyes: but I and the kids sure would! I am sorry.😦

The sole function of middle names is to allow parents to more effectively yell at their children, didn’t you know? 😛

The latest baby here is a real problem, textbook ADHD behaviour. She’s charcoal and was only about 5 weeks and undersized at that when she arrived. She was the same size as, and looked just like, a rat … so she’s known as The Rat. Her fullname, however (long story) is Martha Mary Rosa Rat (maybe we should just call her Litany and be done with it) and the only time her full name gets used is when we’re yelling at her at the top of our lungs to stop her killing herself. Which, on reflection, isn’t that rare an occurence. :ouch:

You haven’t read the good news, then. Our Sammy came back last night. But thanks for your thoughtfulness and prayers, which are never wasted! 🙂

Thanks be to God! Sammy just came in. :extrahappy: My dh just saw him drinking water at the cat’s water fountain! He simply turned up on his own! He’s a bit thiner, but he looks all right otherwise. Thanks for all your prayers. And thanks to St. Francis and all those who interceded for his safe return. :heaven:

Not to bump this up, but I just had to thank you all for your prayers and encouragement when our Sammy was missing. He seems to have learned his lesson–like a kid who ran away from home and no appreciates what he has. Anyway, thanks again. God bless all of you, your families and your furry, fishy, whatever friends. ❤️
