I saw it a few months a go and thought it was great
Thanks for sharing TalldeerLast august I went to a screening of this movie at a friend’s house. Eduardo Verástegui actually came and talked to us about why he choose to do this movie. He told us how he had started to get into some more “racy” movies and roles, but he wanted to strengthen his faith. The result was Bella. He was very down-to-earth and from a small town in Mexico. My school has a Pro-Life Club and we went to see this movie once it came out.
Jose was a broken man, and he found redemption in what he did at the end of the movie (don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet) There are so many subtle religious and Catholic messages in that movie, that’s what was so great about it, they were subtle. The way they unfolded the story of what happened with the car crash bit by bit was wonderfully done, and I didn’t think the pro-life message came off as preachy or judgmental at all–it was just beautiful.
