The following was used in the movie, Jesus of Nazareth.

“I went down into the countries, underneath the earth, to the peoples of the past … But you lifted my life from the pit. O Lord, my God”

Is this an actual verse in the bible and if so, where can I find it?

I don’t normally use google (better product but now left agenda driven), but tried and did not find that exact quote.

BibleHub, StudyBible, Jonah’s prayer:
“To the roots of the mountains I descended; the earth beneath me barred me in forever! But You raised my life from the pit, O LORD my God!”

In the movie version he visits countries and people, BibleHub the roots of mountains.

It’s Jonah 2:2 (many translations/versions)

I’m re-watching that today. I haven’t seen it in some years, and a new cultural inaccuracy jumped out at me. When the child Jesus is reading the scroll in the synagogue, his eyes are tracking from left to right (as if reading English), rather than from right to left (as if reading Hebrew) 😃

Didn’t catch that; I’ll have to look for it next time I watch that scene. It’s sort of difficult to keep some of those reflex motions tamped down.
