Movie Philomena what u think?

In was moving, and painful at times. I enjoyed it. I did not really feel it was anti-Catholic, as many did.

I too have been thinking about the movie since the story on what’s going on in Ireland this week.
 
My husband and I both enjoyed it and looked into the story afterwards. I did feel is was anti-Catholic to an extent but then when it turned out to be a mostly true story I changed that feeling. It is a negative story about a very terrible thing done by Catholics.
 
My husband and I loved the movie. It’s not "anti-Catholic’ to tell the truth. Should we gloss it over? This movie was based on true events. You will find many such happenings. It was a different time, and many nuns were very cruel (not all, but many). Many such truths are coming out and it is not a pretty picture. But I still love the Catholic Church and its teachings.
 
Nuns at that time thought they had the best interest of the child in mind,
But in following in blind faith, many people suffered because of it,and still do…
It just shows that their must be open transparency in the Church and any organisation …

Bill Donohue comments on a movie that has been nominated for four Oscars:
Owing to many false impressions about Catholicism that have been generated by the movie, “Philomena,” I decided to write an extensive review of the film, and the book upon which it is based.
The film and the book maintain that cruel Irish nuns stole Philomena’s baby in 1952 and sold him to “the highest bidder.” In reality, Philomena’s widowed father found the nuns—the only persons willing to accept the teenager’s out-of-wedlock baby—and they subsequently found a home for him in the United States; no fee was charged.
The film and the book also maintain that Philomena went to the United States to find her son, but this is patently untrue: she never set foot in America looking for him.
Copies of my analysis of the controversy surrounding “Philomena” are being sent to the bishops, many in the media (in the United States, England and Ireland), those in the entertainment business, various Irish organizations, and friends of the Catholic League.
