Movie "Sahara"

Saw this movie a couple days ago and thought it was quite good. Lots of action. No foul language or sex scenes. Why can’t they make more movies like this??
 
How funny… husband just walked by and asked if I wanted to see this movie tonight… thanks for the thumbs up. 🙂
 
Yeah it had some action, but it was incredibly stupid. telling people that the desert was water only a hundred years ago…Americans have enough problems with intelligence without being fed such rubbish.

Deserts were water…before the ice age. Mali has no civil war going on. The actors who playied the Malians looked like Negerians and not Mailians (except for the one guy who was suppose to be a tribal leader - he looked Malian), and they spoke with British English. Why not base it in some country that could serve as a learning experience, like one that has a civil war going on and use people from the region?

And to its own story line it did not explain how the ship survived the crossing or why it was considered a ship of death. I thought Inidanna Jones movies, though also far fetched, were much better. Sarhara was an okay movie, but I had hoped for something more.
 
Serendipity…lighten up. It was only a movie. Just entertainment. 🙂

True, but it annoys me to no end that they have to make entertainment always with so little regard for any truth whenever possible. That being said, it had its fun bits. The sidekick was hillarious and there is nothing safer to watch in the theaters here, in terms of not offending sensibilities, as you mentioned.

I thought it started incredibly SLOW. It wasn’t until they were attacked in the boat that I thought it picked up.

'Course I was expecting some sort of Indiana Jones-type action so maybe it was my expectations.

With that said, I thought it was a pretty good movie. The sidekick did a PHENOMENAL job. Very well written and acted!
 
I read all of Clive Cussler’s books a while back in a particularly brain-dead phase of life. They’re all very entertaining as long as you don’t at any point stop and think about them. The plots are all rather daft and the survival of the main characters is repeatedly utterly far fetched. And Cussler’s love of putting himself in each of the later books in a cameo role helping out Dirk Pitt (one of the worst hero names ever) got a bit tiresome.

Is the film as stupid as the book? If it is it could be very entertaining. And is it played totally straight or with much humour?

Just remember, Dirk Pitt and NUMA raised the Titanic. And as a result of Pitt, the USA and Canada became a single nation. A plot point totally ignored in every book since then!

C’mon, his books are just fun! I don’t remember which book it was, but I listened to one that had a character in it called Mason Jar. Now that’s just funny. Anyway, I’m wanting to see this movie, but I saw an article about Cussler being unhappy b/c they changed it quite a bit from the book. So, that makes me skeptical. We’ll probably rent it.
 
it seems my friends we have brought it down to two types of movies

those that arn’t acurate and arnt sexual or gory

those that are sexual and gory
