Movie Villains: a reprise

Almost a year ago, there was this thread started by meltzerboy:

Well, I have turner classic movies on my cable lineup, so that means I also have access to their App and their online on demand features.

So, last night my daughter and I stayed up late, cuddled on the couch and watched

Wait After Dark. :eek:

Alan Arkin played Harry Roat, a psychopathic drug dealer.

Audrey Hepburn plays a blind woman whose husband intercepted inadvertently a shipment of drugs.

What a villainous villain!

He wasn’t nominated for an Oscar, but commented that they don’t give Oscars for terrifying Audrey Hepburn. 😃
 
Well, if we’re talking villains,you can’t leave out Joe Pesci in Goodfellas.

What a portrayal of evil.
 
I’m not a huge “Star Trek” fan by any means, but Ricardo Montalbán as Khan Noonien Singh in Star Trek II was epic. In fact, Khan is my favorite character in the entire Star Trek mythology. So deliciously evil. Amazing villain.

Yes! Without giving away the plot too much for an almost 50 year old film Audrey says something to the effect “I thought you said you weren’t going to hurt me.” He responds.“Did I? I must have had My fingers crossed .” His delivery was so chilling.

Audrey Hepburn was so lovely though. That’s a topic for another thread though.

Joe Pesci is a really good actor. On a side note, my littlest has gotten into Animaniacs and there’s a spoof in it called Good Feathers about NY pigeons.

I think Joe Pesci was very good in Raging Bull, perhaps better than DeNiro in that film.

I recall seeing Wait Until Dark in the theater when it first came out. There must be something about watching a film on the big screen in a dark house surrounded by strangers that can make it seem even more terrifying than seeing it in the comfort and security of your own home. I was also a bit younger then. Alan Arkin played the psychopath to perfection.

I’ve heard that when it was released in the theaters there were instructions given to shut all the theatre lighting during the last 15 minutes. So it must have been a really great experience in the theatre.

That specific scene caused my daughter to scold me when I shrieked. It didn’t affect her the same way. I’m not sure why, maybe because of video games.

Absolutely agree! My best friend and I went to see it in the movie theater when we were sophomores in high school — we were terrified for poor Audrey.
Petrified with suspense, as we held on to each other for dear life! :eek::eek::eek:

I saw this years ago when I was a young child, just a year or too after it first came out. It is a great suspense movie.

I think Robert Mitchum and Robert de Niro were both excellent villains in the original and the remake of Cape Fear.

I love this movie. the whole cast was good. I liked Richard Crenna too and Efrem as her Audrey’s husband. even the little girl was good.
 
Speaking of little girls, how about the little girl in THE BAD SEED?
The original one.
Man was she a pill! 😃
 
I don’t really like children in horror movies, but Damien was a scary little brat in the Omen. :eek:

Angela Lansbury in the Manchurian Candidate. She was one scary mom.
 
The character Anton Chigurh (played by Javier Bardem) in “No Country for Old Men.” Truly scary.
