There is a major difference between the film plotline and chronic depression, in that there is a triggering occurrence: the family move.It would look like the stark crumbling of Goofball Island, for starters, and it would also look like – oh, wait, it would look like practically every scene in “Inside Out.” I honestly don’t know how it’s even statistically possibly that I’m one of the only people to have seen this movie as an illustration of clinical depression. Pixar could practically license some of the scenes for usage on anti-depressant commercials.![]()
In chronic depression, also, I’d imagine that mind and body functioning would be drastically subdued, the Train of Thought would be permanently stalled, the maintenance crews and memory managers would be in mutiny, and no-one would be manning the controls. The color-coded spheres would be cascading directly into the memory dump because no-one would be there to catalog them.
