I won’t support anything that undermines the essential values and beliefs of my faith. A previous post noted that this is not the first in a long line of films that have come out of Hollywood taking liberal aim at the essential concepts and beliefs of our faith, and I have to say that I haven’t nor will see any of those either.
I find it insulting that Hollywood feels so free to b@stardize my faith with little regard to how insulting or blastphemous it is to Christians.
They have absolutely no respect for our Most Holy and Sacred beliefs.
Although, they won’t touch other faith’s very much if at all. Especially, Muslim beliefs, ideas, or sacred icons (I’m thinking of the movie 2012 here where the director relished destroying Christian icons of faith but explicitly stated he wouldn’t dare touch Muslim icons.)
I am all about a good fiction story but I will not support any media that makes a mockary of my faith with it’s distortion of Divine Revelation.

Well I’ll certainly be avoiding 2012 due to the strong statements against faith in God Roland makes (vield with the typical “I don’t like organized religion” remarks). However I do think it is only fair to correct a mischarictarization in this post. These are Rolands words regarding Islamic icons:

So apparently the director him self was all about it, but was convinced not to due to the fear of possible assasination. Regardless, I think it’s still well worth missing 2012 and future Emmerich films, at least certainly for me.
 
They were afwaid of a fatwa.

At least we can be glad they aren’t defending the country.
 
Ah, Crazzeto, I do remember reading that exact article so I appreciate you putting the link out there. Yes, he did actually want to destroy Mecca. Although, there are so many other instances he points out in that article which just make my skin crawl.

Even though his last statement seems to make it clear that he’s against all organized religion, he certainly doesn’t have a problem “attacking” Christian religious symbols as he makes clear in the interview and that just sits the wrong way with me all around.

I prefer the Matt Stone/Trey Parker concept of it, “If you’re going to pick on one, you have to pick on them all.” 🙂
 
This is probably due to the fact that as Christians, we’re taught to love and not kill our enemy’s. There for he has very little fear of assasination from the Christian Camp (I’ll admit, we have our share of mentally unstable as demonstrated not all too long ago). That’s really the only reason, fear.

Anyway, unfortunetly I do have a couple of his movies in my DVD collection. ID4 on bluray and the Day after Tomrrow on DVD (which I won’t be upgrading, honeslty not that great of a movie anyway). I’ll take this interview as a reason to activly avoid supporting his work.
 
this movie is against christianity, they’re mocking god and jesus and his angels. how could angels come here to destroy humans, i mean they’re the one’s protecting us from harm.
 
I thought Constantine was good, even though it could have been better. At least they had a Catholic (well, kind of) protagonist.

This just looks bad. And really stupid. Unbelievably so, really.
 
I saw the movie and found it similar to the concept in Stephen King’s The Stand. Since movie reviewers apparently do not read, they would miss some of the symbols found in the movie. It puts forth a pro-life message. It also points out that in the struggle against evil, those who are lukewarm in their beliefs become foils for the strong, either good or evil. Dante would have understood the message.
 
If St. Michael isn’t being defamed or demeaned (like John Travolta’s version), it’s St. Gabriel. I bet St. Raphael is happy he’s not well-known. I hope this garbage goes the way of “The Golden Compost” in poor box office sales.
 
And my self-hating Catholic friend thinks we have “no common sense” because we object to this horrid movie. In fact, he blames us for anti-Catholic prejudice.
 
It’s unbelievable how some churchgoers (not just fans of Mary Daly, but the lukewarm) think of EWTN-fan Catholics as if they’re right-wing radical sedevacantists, whether they dislike this movie or they crusade for pro-life causes, even peacefully. We’ve been dumbed down too long, when bishops, priests and lay faithful do stand up for truth, they’re seen as extremists; when what was originally intended by Vatican 2 for pastoral direction and the NO Mass, it’s seen as if G. Gordon Liddy were the bishop.

If you want to see a good movie about St Michael, you will have to wait for Paradise Lost the Movie to come out. It will be released by New Line Cinema (Warner Bros). I can’t wait for this one. ,

Catholic Answers actually talked to one of the producers of that film. Doug Urbanski on 1/8/10. He runs a production company along with Gary Oldman, he helped produce Book of Eli and he’s a strong Catholic.

So I’m imagining it is a good movie. I was leary at first but after I heard this interview I was much more at ease about it.
 
Every review I’ve read about this film Legion says it’s TERRIBLE! I don’t care to see the film since it’s supposed to be about Saint Michael becoming a fallen angel and trying to stop God from destroying humanity and he needs to protect the woman pregnant with the anti-Christ to save humanity cough Terminator ripoff cough
 
LOL… when i saw angels using guns i knew that this flic was gonna be wak… i think the prophecy was a better movie than legion:D
