This is just another anti-catholic film from anti-catholic Hollywood. Most exorcist films like this one are anti catholic and very inaccurate and filled with lies. Their is no reason to go see this movie because all the critics and as so many regular people who watched it are giving it low ratings. If you want to go see a good exorcist movie go rent The Rite that was a great movie and with great acting and off course it was pro catholic. Also I do think it would be a sin for someone to go see the devil inside if they knew it was anti-catholic or anti-christian not only because you could hurt your faith but also your supporting a anti-catholic film by paying to see it.

I think it is acceptable to make a film about exorcisms, but they can’t be stretches of what the Catholic church claims goes on during exorcisms. I didn’t like The Last Exorcism because it tried to leave it up in the air as to weather or not the exorcism was real.

The movie was not very good, was obviously fictitious plus prior to movie begining it states that Vatican does not endorse. Check out the Rite which is endorsed by Vatican I believe. 😃

Other than I now have the INXS song stuck in head
this 😃

My first impulse upon seeing the preview for the first time was that I wanted to go see it. I was never under the impression that they were “real” excorcisms, though, and rest assured they aren’t. Since then I’ve heard too many bad things about it and I don’t think it will be worth spending the money.

Wasn’t the man in that one an evangelical minister who didn’t even believe in what he was doing? Two red flags there: non-Catholic exorcist and non-believer, at that.

I have a friend who knows the Exorcist The Rite was based off of. He’s a good priest and it’s a great movie. 👍

The Last Exorcism deals with an evangelical who has questions about exorcism. But as to if the girl is really possessed, the film leaves no final conclusion. It looks like she probably is, but no conclusion what so ever. I think there is probably going to be a sequel. I won’t see it.

I didn’t like the Rite. I didn’t see the entire thing, but was bored by it. It probably was faithful to what Exorcism really is, but I just didn’t want to watch the entire thing in HBO when it was on. Maybe I will see it the next time it is on.

I with they would make a movie about Malachi Martin. He was a very interesting figure.

…perhaps you want to look at the Catholic News Service’s review of the movie, here:
catholicnews.com/data/movies/12mv001.htm

All of my desire to watch the film (which wasn’t much to begin with, honestly) has diminished.

For those who have seen it, did CNS exaggerate the claims? Or is it accurate?

I didn’t see it but I heard about all the misrepresentations and errors.

Oh but that’s what I loved about it. It contained barely any of the Hollywood nonsense they throw in there just to make it more appealing to the viewer. You don’t need to “play up” an exorcism. True stories (real exorcisms) can be intriguing all on their own and IMO, movie producers take them to a level of “intensity” that they do not need to be on. Let the movie flow…if it’s a true story it’s bound to be interesting some way or another - which, The Rite was and they should be proud.

Having said that, I thought Emily Rose was really well put together. In that movie, the dramatization was bearable because of the great acting and overall dynamic.

I think I’m going to start reading his works. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂

sigh. Why is it that Hollywood is so against the Church exactly??? Good grief. Catholic-themed horror movies are some of the best, and yet they always ruin it with all this…well, I don’t want to swear on the board, but you know what I mean.

I’m a huge horror movie buff - my wife and I own almost two hundred horror movies. But one thing I cannot stand is when they do things like this. I laughed my way through that turgid “Last Exorcism” affair - it was so blatantly flawed in its portrayals of religion it was hilarious - they idea of backwoods Bible-only fundamentalists having statues of St. Francis in their house speaks to the ineptness of the producer.

Anyways, I loved the original Exorcist - I was uncomfortable by one specific scene, but overall found the film to be quite deep. Emily Rose was also an excellent film, and extremely frightening. A lot friendlier to the Church though.

Didn’t like the film versions of The Exorcist or Emily Rose because of the awful misrepresentation of the true stories of these peoples’ exorcisms. So sad. Yes, they were based off of true stories. The Exorcist was really based on a young boy, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose was based off of a victim soul who ended up dying in Germany.

The Devil Inside seems to be just a “whatever” movie. Although I don’t exactly like the description of CNS regarding psychological stuff, because the line is so gray between psychological issues and demonic. The Church understands this as well, but CNS seems to be clueless about it.

Other than that, I could see myself being mostly annoyed by the movie and walking out midway. Thanks for the link.

It wasn’t that he didn’t believe. but that he wanted to look for other possible causes.

I’ve seen The Exorcist and Emily Rose. I thought they were pretty good films. Still have yet to see The Rite, I heard it was good and not too Catholic Church bashing, Right?
As for The Devil Inside with everything I read about it…I don’t think so.

Requiem, the German version of Anneliese Michel’s story, was pretty good.🙂

I saw the trailer for that one a long time ago and I could never find the movie. 😦 That is one I would like to see.
This is when Netflix becomes your friend. And it’s on instant steaming no less. 🙂

I won’t be watching this awful film. What a shame it is that they turned it in to a catholic bashing fest. They were really fooled b the devil if they bashed the catholic church during an exorcism when you think about it, where else do such ideas come from?

I never had any desire to see this film, but I really enjoyed reading that review. It was so sarcastically funny.
