So…i’m bored, i would love some film recommendations of movies that either explicitly feature catholcism or have very deep underlaying catholic themes, any genre of film is fine, warn if any impurity or taking of God’s name in vain is present, bear in mind i’m going to watch it alone so it doesn’t have to be completely family friendly

“Silence” based on the novel of the same name, is a good one. The priest becomes an apostate but you aren’t left without the psychological details.

“The Song of Bernadette” is a beautiful film based on St Bernadette, one of the seers of Lourdes, but is quite fictional.

I have Silence, i’ve been having it as a “to watch” for like 5 months

‘Philomena’ is quite a nice movie with definite catholic theme.

“The Jeweller’s Shop” (1988)

I think it was written or directed by John Paul II.

“The trouble with Angels”

“Sound of music”

“Sister Act”

“Madeline”

Calvary
Of Gods and Men (one of my favorites)
The Bells of St. Mary’s
The Cardinal
The Scarlet and the Black

“Chocolate”

Story is an updated version of the Pharisees and the Tax Collector.

How about classics like The shoes of the Fisherman or
The Nun’s story?
Also, if you can get British TV then I recommend the series Broken and / or Apparitions.
Back to the Movies…Constantine - yes, the Keanu Reeves film - has an interesting thread running through it…
