And it does a lot, besides that scene with the crucifixes…but i guess i can skip that

I like the Constantine tv show (except for a few rather nasty episodes) but as a semi-fan of the comics, i can’t even bear the image of Kenau as Constantine

I hope to see the series one day…Amazon don’t obligingly eventually release DVDs like Netflix do. If you can ‘grin and bear’ Keanu it is actually a very good free-standing film. But I suppose it’s like changing Lady Penelope’s Rolls into a Cadillac…you don’t mess with some things…unless you’re Hollywood.
There’s also The Singer not the Song as another idea…but the book’s better. 😊

Just thought I’d mention the Lord of the Rings Triology! It’s heavily infused with Catholicism, or if you’ve already seen them, definitely look up an article about it. Tolkein surely had Catholicism in mind. For example, Galadriel can be seen as a figure of the Blessed Mother.

I watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy during Holy Week. :+1:t4:

A priest at our parish once mentioned the last film in his homily, talking about how attached we can become to our favorite sins. Gollum clings to that stupid ring as he burns in the flames.

Frodo almost follows suit, except that Sam is there to remind him of what is truly good.

Oh, I love that scene!

I love Tolkien’s myth making and his handling of catholic subtext as utterly sublime, but i’ll be honest, it’s really, really hard for me to just rush through a three hour long movie
