Need advice on Catholic highschools in the Denver area. Can anyone tell me about Mullen HIgh School in Denver and Holy Family High School in Broomfield? I’d be interested in hearing about them as it will help determine which area choose to live. Also any suggestions on parishes, elementary schools would be appreciated as well.

Regis High School is a very good school. They have a boys and girls campus and the school is newly remodeled. It is only a few miles away from the parish I attend, Our Lady of Loreto. I love OLOL, it’s a wonderful parish and this year we are really stepping up the children’s programs. Good Luck with what ever you choose. OLOL in in Foxfield CO by the way, a south/east suburb of Denver.

Thankyou so much for your reply. I should have mentioned my DH job will be in Boulder, so we are looking at either Holy Family in Broomfield or splitting the difference and living in Golden, Westminster, Arvada or Lakewood and driving to Mullen in Denver. I looked at Regis, but Aurora would be too difficult a commute to Boulder for my husband. If you know of any other parishes in those areas or any other helpful information, please post again!!

Someone that I worked with about three years ago sent her daughter to Mullen and they seemed to love it. I never heard anything but great things. You might want to try out the drive during rush hour when you get there. I wound up commuting from Colorado Springs and it got a little old.

Any Coloradans out there? Would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

awesome! you’re moving near boulder! my DH and i live in boulder. we used to attend sacred heart of mary church in south boulder, but recently switched to sacred heart of jesus downtown in boulder. the pastor, fr. bill, is great. lots of the kids in 8th grade there go to holy family. i’ve met some kids from holy family and they are all really nice and active. broomfield/lousiville is also a great place to live, and a short commute to boulder (about 15-20 minutes depending on where your DH works). my friend’s son goes to regis and he loves it. she and her family live in boulder but she said the commute is totally worth it. i don’t know much about mullen except that they have good sports teams.

send me a private message through this website and i can email you. when you move out here, i would be happy to meet up for mass.

I just wanted to let you all know that I am envious that you get to live in the beautiful state of Colorado, and near Boulder no less! 🙂
Me and my dh went to Estes Park for our honeymoon and loved it there. We’d like to move but it’d have to wait for a few years and see if we’d have enough money to make the move.
I just wanted to throw in my :twocents: and let you all know that I’m envious. On a positive note, it’s nice to know that there’s a good community out there cuz if we would move, it’s scary not knowing where you’re going or who’s out there. 😉

We live in Louisville (one town east of Boulder), and I’ve had many friends whose children have gone to Holy Family. It’s a newer campus (built in the past ten years) and everyone I’ve spoken with just seems to love it! I don’t know anything about Mullen except it’s in Denver and I would never be willing to make the commute from Boulder into Denver every morning.

There are wonderful parishes in this area. I attended St. Thomas Aquinas in Boulder when I was in college. Very artsy, very community oriented, and the college students give it a very dynamic feeling. Now I attend St. Louis in Louisville - we have a preK - 8 school and the whole parish is very family oriented with programs for all ages through high school.

Best wishes on your move out to our beautiful state! Send me a private message if you want more information about anything.

Gertie (not my real name, but I like it!)

Estes is indeed a wonderful place to live and we have a great Church(our Lady of the Mountains) and a great Pastor. We just had our first good snow of the seasn last night. The ONLY problem with Estes is it is expensive to live here. However Longmont and Loveland are close buy and have much more affodable housing.

Yes, I looked on realtor.com to check out the price of living out there and we’d be lucky if we could afford an apartment in Colorado, at this rate. It might have to be a move that we could do when we retire, if nothing else.
But oh to live in the beautiful Rocky Mountains would just be so wonderful!!! 😃

It is hard to live in the mountain communites but living in the communites on the plains can be quite reasonable. i just opened an office in Windsor. Housing is quite reasonable and one can be in Estes in under an hour.

Colorado is so beautiful and with all that sunshine and 4 seasons, I imagine it will be a great place to live. I’m grateful to hear good things about Holy Family High School and hear of good parishes. I know Archbishop Chaput is an orthodox Catholic and I look forward to being under his spiritual authority. I just want to make sure that we find our way to a parish that is not creative with the rubrics of the mass. I also want to find a parish with a youth group for the kids that will provide a good influence on them, always realizing that as parents we are to be their primary models and teachers. Thanks to everyone who has posted so far, I really appreciate the help and find the people in Colorado so warm and friendly.
