Mt 24:36 and the Omniscience of Jesus

Mt 24:26, where Jesus says, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” What should we make of this passage?

Does this mean that Jesus was not Omniscience? How could Jesus be all knowing and not be able to know when he would come back?
 
You are assuming that there is a doctrine of the Omniscience of Jesus, which is another topic altogether.

I have given up interpreting ALL the passages of the Bible many years ago.
So, my first answer would be: “I do not know!”
But, I would interpret that Jesus, as a man, did not know.
 
Jesus had both a Divine and a human intellect. While He had the ability to access all knowledge in respect of His Divine Nature, that does not mean that as a human, He actually choose to know all things at every moment.

Or he just didn’t know all things and didn’t have the ability to access all knowledge because he didn’t have a divine nature. :confused:

The previous post, #5, is the standard response & correct.
However, Jesus’ answer also suggests that there may not** be** an answer to the question because of the way it was phrased or intended. Not all questions have an answer, for they can be based on a subtly wrong concept all-together.

Gen 22:12
12*And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”

Are we to conclude from this passage that Almighty God did not know something at one point or another? I think not. In like manner, is it reasonable to say Jesus is not God just because the text says he did not know something at one point or another?

Jesus was not omniscience in His human nature. He was given in His human nature by the power of the Holy Spirit all that was necessary to fulfil the Father’s will, not beyond that “I can of myself do nothing, as I hear, I judge and my judgment is righteous; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” – John 5:30
