Mt 8:4 The "Gift Moses Prescribed"?

Matthew 8:4 says in the New American Bible:
Then Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one, but go show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them.”
What is the “gift that Moses Prescribed”? Is that simply the animal sacrifices, or is it something more specific, or am I on the wrong path altogether?

If you go to the commentary for verse 4 at the bottom of the page in your NAB it cites Leviticus 14:2-9. Also at the beginning of verse 4 is a small letter g directing you to a foot-noted cross reference, also at the bottom of the page. This cross references Lev. 14:2-32. If we look up the shorter reading we find the following:

"This is the law for the victim of leprosy at the time of his purification. He shall be brought to the priest,

who is to go outside the camp to examine him. If the priest finds that the sore of leprosy has healed in the leper,

1 he shall order the man who is to be purified, to get two live, clean birds, as well as some cedar wood, scarlet yarn, and hyssop.

2 The priest shall then order him to slay one of the birds over an earthen vessel with spring water in it.

Taking the living bird with the cedar wood, the scarlet yarn and the hyssop, the priest shall dip them all in the blood of the bird that was slain over the spring water,

and then sprinkle seven times the man to be purified from his leprosy. When he has thus purified him, he shall let the living bird fly away over the countryside.

The man being purified shall then wash his garments and shave off all his hair and bathe in water; only when he is thus made clean may he come inside the camp; but he shall still remain outside his tent for seven days.

Ver. 4. For a testimony to them. That is, when the priest finds thee truly cured, make that offering which is ordained in the law. (Witham) — He did this to give us an example of humility, and that the priests, by approving of his miracle, and being made witnesses to it, might be inexcusable, if they would not believe him. (Menochius) — He thus shews his obedience to the law, and his respect for the diginity of priests. He makes them inexcusable, if they can still call him a transgressor of the law, and prevaricator. He moreover gives this public testimony to them of his divine origin. (St. Chrysostom, hom. xxvi.) St. Chrysostom, in his third book on the priesthood, says: “the priests of the old law had authority and privilege only to discern who were healed of leprosy, and to denounce the same to the people; but the priests of the new law have power to purify, in very deed, the filth of the soul. Therefore, whoever despiseth them, is more worthy to be punished than the rebel Dathan and his accomplices.” Our Saviour willeth him to go and offer his gift or sacrifice, according as Moses prescribed in that case, because the other sacrifice, being the holiest of all holies, viz. his body, was not yet begun. (St. Augustine, lib. ii. & Evang. ii. 3. & cont. adver. leg. & Proph. lib. i. chap. 19, 20.)
