I’m not sure if this was the right thread to ask this question.

My mom and uncle were in foster homes and orphanages while my grandma was working. One time they were placed in Mt. St. Joseph Academy in Tekoa, WA about 1945 (give or take a year). They were give a heavy piece of paper that had a design along the edges (she thinks) and the writing was scroll or calligraphy. She can’t remember what was written on it but it gave her hope and peace. Well she has carried that page with her along with the other catholic items they were given. My sister had gotten a new puppy and somehow the puppy got the paper and chewed in tiny pieces.

Has anyone here on the forum been in this academy and if so have that paper? If not any ideas what would’ve been written on it? I asked if it was The Beatitudes but she said no. Sorry I don’t have more information than this.

I was going to contact the academy but was burnt down. I am hoping someone can help me find this page for my mom.

Thank you for any help. Bonnie

Perhaps the Sister of St. Francis who posted on this forum last April could help?
Hello all. I am a Sister of St Francis, the same order that operated Mt St Joseph Academy in Tekoa. I went to Tekoa a few years ago to see where the academy used to stand. I was surprised to see a garden there along side of the church dedicated to the Sisters of St Francis.
After the academy closed there, the Sisters opened St Charles School in Spokane in 1951. I was in the first first grade of St Charles and grew up to join the congregation. I would love to get in contact with anyone who went to the academy or the children of those who attended. I found this site today and read the posts here. I hope to be able to connect with you all in some way.

Take the remaining fragments to a print shop and see if they can use it to produce a duplicate. I hope this helps.

Thank you both for your help. Will try to contact her. Unfortunately mom threw the pieces away. I did come across an article about the Academy and the Sisters opened a school in Spokane, WA. Going to call this morning and hoping they might know of the paper.
